Free eBook on Circumstantial Light

Next March Rocky Nook publishes the new book from Roberto Valenzuela, Picture Perfect Lighting. But this month there is a free chapter available, all about the photographer’s circumstantial light method.

Picture Perfect Lighting: An Innovative Lighting System for Photographing People! is a 334 page book/eBook by Robert Valenzuela, a popular Beverly Hills wedding photographer also famous for his methods of working with light.

The whole chapter 6, available now for free, deals with the implementation of circumstantial light. While it makes sense to buy the whole book when it becomes available, if the subject of light interests you, this chapter will give you the tools to better understand circumstantial light.

Roberto Valenzuela defines circumstantial light, as “a unique way of thinking about light. Being highly skilled at circumstantial light allows the photographer to be proficient at producing beautiful work in any environment and at any time of the day without much need for light modifiers or assistants”, says the photographer. However, he adds, “to be skilled at circumstantial light, the photographer must clearly understand how light behaves and combine that knowledge with the 10 elements to break down circumstantial light.”

Inside this never-before-seen free chapter you’ll find the entire book’s table of contents, and enough information to help you:

  • Better understand circumstantial light
  • Recognize which elements of circumstantial light are applicable for specific scenarios
  • How to create diversity and contrast with lighting
  • How to turn a tough lighting situation into a great portrait
  • Understand what properties of light everyday objects hold
  • …and much more!

Photographer and educator, Roberto Valenzuela has a talent for identifying areas where photographers regularly hit roadblocks and a passion for developing clear and concise systems that allow photographers to break through those barriers and become better, more confident practitioners of their craft. This free eBook is an example of that working method. While it will give you a better understanding of circumstantial light and provide you with the tools to better explore it, buying the whole book, next March, is the right thing to do, if you want to go deeper into the subject.

Having seen Roberto Valenzuela share his passion for light and photography at a Creative Live workshop, sometime ago, the chance to have his next book to read through is quite an exciting way to occupy my free time. For now the 48-page eBook is a “must read” introduction.
