Introduced as “high-value entry grade full frame lens” the new products are available with a suggested retail price of $149, which is a tempting offer, if the quality is there.
Sirui claims the lenses offer “uncompromising image quality” and are ideal “daily carry lenses”. The ultra-wide 20mm Swift lens provides an expansive perspective and is perfect for landscapes, street snaps, and vlogs, while the 40mm is ideal for portraits, street scenes and detail shooting. It’s a nice pair that you may want to keep in your photobag. Small, they are also lightweight: the 20mm weighs 212g / 0.467lb (L version) and the 40mm weighs 215g / 0.474lb (L version).
The 20mm f/2.4 has 11 elements in 9 groups and has a close focus at 0.65ft (0.2m), while the 40mm f/2.2 has 11 elements in 8 groups and has a close focus at 1.31ft (0.4m). Both lenses have f/16 as the smallest aperture. Both have a 58mm filter thread. Sirui claims both lenses, built with all-glass optics, have “premium optical structure to ensure high solution, minimal distortion and excellent chromatic aberration control whist keeping compact lens size.”
An STM motor delivers, Sirui says, “quick, smooth autofocus, helping you keep moving subjects in focus and capture fleeting moments” while the low distortion, natural color rendering, and minimal focus breathing help create a consistent look as focus shifts, making them “ideal for vlogs, short films, and time-lapse photography.”
