2008 HPA Tech Retreat program posted

The 2008 Hollywood Post Alliance Tech Retreat program is posted online at HPA Online. The Tech Retreat happens 19-22 February 2008 just south of Palm Springs, CA.

Topics this year include HD displays (including a four-hour LCD tutorial by Martin Euredjian of eCinema Systems) and monitoring, upconversion, the RED camera, digital cinema, HDMI, HDR displays, compression concatenation, a CES review, the analog shutdown, broadcast concerns, standards for image and metadata archiving and interchange, and much more.

There will be the usual breakfast roundtables, the baseball game (nonbelievers are allowed to sit this one out), and Mark Schubin’s trivia quiz. Sound goofy? Yes, and no: there is IMHO no better video-tech conference around; the signal-to-noise ratio is unparalleled. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it if you want to stay on top of technology and trends in the industry.
