A complete redesign of the original model, with over 80% new components, the easy35 v2 is introduced as the next generation of Valoi’s compact film scanning system.

The easy35 system is built for camera scanning. It attaches to a macro lens and uses an integrated light source and film holder to digitize analog 35mm film with a digital camera. Crowdfunded on the Indiegogo platform, in 2023, the Valoi easy35 system is a compact solution – the size of a water bottle – for scanning 35mm film and smaller formats. It attaches easily to the front of a camera and requires very little setup to achieve excellent results, according to Valoi. Perfect for aspiring photographers using 35mm or anyone scanning a family archive – both will obtain the best quality with minimal effort -, the product is quite different from those flimsy adapters you see advertised everywhere.

The company also developed a system for digitization of medium format film, Valoi easy120, announced in 2025, and now is back with an updated version of the original easy35. The main update in easy35 v2 is a new Universal Light Source that increases light uniformity from 81% to 99%, delivering more even illumination across the frame.

According to Valoi, the light source is optimized with a fixed color temperature to help balance the strong orange mask of color negatives, reduce the risk of clipped reds, and preserve detail for post-processing. It is designed to remain neutral for black-and-white film and slides, and to support formats including ECN-2 and color negatives. The new light uses CRI 95+ LEDs for improved color accuracy.

The easy35 v2 also introduces major mechanical changes. The body moves from 3D-printed nylon to injection-molded ABS, improving surface finish and tightening mechanical tolerances by 5–10 times. The rotation mechanism is now all-metal. The film holder system uses a 5-point spring-loaded ball-bearing design to keep the film consistently parallel and to speed up holder changes. The unit also adds magnetic accessory mounting for compatible accessories such as the Duster.

For power and workflow, easy35 v2 is designed for both portable and studio use. It provides over four hours of continuous battery operation and adds Smart Battery Bypass, which allows the unit to run on USB‑C wall power without draining the battery. Valoi says this reduces heat and helps preserve battery health.

Repairability is also updated. The easy35 v2 is assembled using standard screws rather than glue or clips, and major components such as the battery, electronics, and housing sections can be replaced individually. Film holders remain replaceable, and multiple formats are available at launch. The Valoi easy35 v2 is available for pre-order and will start to ship in April 2026,  with a suggested retail price of $239.
