Yep, preparation is everything, but shit happens. Last July I was hired to do a music video in the U.K. Received the song, talked with the band several times on the phone and had a script ready to go. Received the deposit which would cover all my expenses. Decided to shoot on a GH5 using a stabilizer. Wanted to be able to carry most of the equipment in a backpack. Two locations, one a pub, and the other at the Winchester Cathedral, both daylight. Allowed a week for the shoot. When arriving in Winchester, the lead singer had gotten into a fight, someone slammed him into a toilet, and was in the hospital with three broken ribs and covered in bruises. Had to cancel the shoot and reschedule. Went back last January to try again. Again scheduled a week for it. Met with the band upon arriving to go over shooting schedule. went to the put to make sure everything would be ready and making sure the extras would be ready. Pub shoot scheduled for 1pm on Wednesday. Lead singer was late, didn’t show up until 3pm and drunk. Extras left. Went ahead and tried to get the shots needed, Finished at 7pm. Multiple retakes as singer couldn’t remember the lines to the song. Next day scheduled at the Cathedral at 1pm. Everyone there including extras, except lead singer. Showed up at 2:30, drunk. Lady in charge of the Cathedral would not let him in, not christian like to be drunk and smelling of alcohol in a church. Could not shoot outside as Netflix was shooting a series there. Found another location, and had to improvise to finish. Extra’s had also left. Was able to “slap” it together in post and band was happy to get a video, not the one they wanted, but a video. Got paid, now they want me back for another one. This time, deposit and remainder upon leaving the U.K.
