Sony is already working with a variety of XR creators and spatial content creators to create content for its new Spatial Reality Display, the small ELF-MN1.
Sony announced recently that its XYN spatial content solution, which enables creators to capture real-world objects and environments and generate high-quality 3DCG (3D Computer Graphics) assets, is available in the United States (excluding U.S. territories) and Canada, through a range of flexible purchasing options. The company also revealed its new Spatial Reality Display, the compact 6-inch ELF-MN1.

Launched as as part of the hardware lineup for its XYN spatial content solutions, the ELF-MN1 is a Spatial Reality Display that allows users to enjoy 3D content—such as avatars and characters—as well as objects generated by XYN spatial capture solution, in three-dimensional images that appear as if they were actually present in the room, all without the need for special glasses or a headset.
Based on the concept of “Bringing the world of creativity into the ‘everyday’ on your desk,” it offers an experience that allows users to enjoy content created by XR creators and spatial content creators within their everyday environments. No complicated initial setup is required, and you can start watching 3D content as soon as you launch the app, according to the company.
Sony says that by connecting the device directly to your smartphone or PC via a USB-C cable, you can easily view 3D content. Whether you’re enjoying your favorite characters or avatars or creating original content using the developer SDK, this device expands the range of ways to enjoy spatial content.
The ELF-MN1 is scheduled to be exhibited sequentially at Sony Store Ginza and Sony Store Nagoya. Visitors will be able to experience spatial content created by creators and “HoloModel” digital figures using glasses-free 3D viewing. The latest information, including exhibition start dates, will be posted on the product page as it becomes available.
Sony has launched a developer site with information for developers creating applications for the ELF-MN1, where SDKs and tutorials will be made available over time. The suggested price for the ELF-MN1, when it becomes available, is around 54.000 yen or $350.
