The new lens from Samyang combines a bright F1.8 aperture, upgraded optics, fast autofocus, and practical features in a portable design, making it a bright standard prime always at hand.

The new lens expands the Prima Series lineup following the introduction of the AF 35mm F1.4 P FE in 2024, and the AF 16mm F2.8 P FE and AF 85mm F1.8 P FE in 2025. Measuring 71.5 mm in length and weighing 216 g, the AF 35mm F1.8 P FE is well matched to compact Sony mirrorless cameras such as the A7C and ZV-E series, and light enough to stay mounted throughout the day, making it a practical choice for photographers and content creators.

The lens features an optical construction of 10 elements in 8 groups, including 2 aspherical (ASP) elements and 2 newly developed XHR (Extra High Refractive) elements. XHR elements are manufactured with higher precision than conventional high-refractive index glass, enabling a more compact optical design while reducing aberrations and delivering consistent sharpness across the frame.

The lens incorporates UMC II (Ultra Multi Coating II) which is the latest generation of Samyang‘s coating technology. UMC II more effectively suppresses flare and ghosting than the previous system, helping maintain contrast and clarity in difficult lighting conditions such as strong backlight and night scenes.

A 9-blade rounded aperture produces smooth and natural background blur, making the lens suitable for everyday shooting, portraits, and close-up work alike.

Autofocus is handled by the new Linear STM II motor, which delivers faster, quieter, and more accurate performance for both stills and video, with smooth focusing transitions and reliable subject acquisition.

The AF 35mm F1.8 P FE also features weather sealing for protection in light rain, dust, and variable outdoor conditions.
