Four new COB lights from 60W to 660W deliver higher output, truer color, and smoother workflows for mobile and studio creators alike. Discover the new amaran Ray series!
Designed for modern creators who need more power in smaller, smarter packages, the four-model lineup – amaran Ray 60c (60W), 120c (120W), 360c (360W), and 660c (660W) – covers workflows from ultra-mobile shoots to dedicated studio spaces, all in compact, streamlined designs.
Powered by the all-new OmniColor light engine, the amaran Ray series delivers higher output, truer color reproduction, and more consistent skin tones than previous-generation amaran full-color COBs. Together, these fixtures mark a major evolution of the amaran COB family – brighter, more color-accurate, and engineered without the bulk typically associated with studio-grade output. As amaran’s new flagship COB line, the Ray series defines the next generation of creator-focused lighting tools.
Here is the information shared by amaran about the new products:
Compact Power and Class-Leading Brightness Across Every Scenario
Across the lineup, the amaran Ray series is built around compact, studio-quality performance, giving creators more output in less space. From the travel-ready Ray 60c to the studio-ready Ray 660c, each step in the range delivers a clear jump in brightness while being easier to set up, store, and travel with than traditional studio fixtures, providing more power without the added bulk or complexity typically associated with higher-output lights.
The Arrival of the OmniColor Light Engine
At the core of every amaran Ray fixture is OmniColor, amaran’s all-new full-color light engine developed to make high color fidelity more accessible for creator workflows. Building on the brand’s previous full-color chipsets, OmniColor expands the red and blue ranges and introduces an indigo emitter to deliver a fuller, more balanced spectrum of light – achieving SSI scores of 87 (Tungsten) and 80 (D56). For creators, this simply means what you see is what you capture – cleaner whites, truer skin tones, and more accurate color that stays consistent on camera, whether shooting mobile content, live streams, or full studio productions.
Beyond power and color, the amaran Ray series is built for everyday creator setups, with shared workflow-focused features across the lineup, including:
- IP54-Rated Weather Resistance: Every Ray fixture features an IP54-rated design for dust and splash resistance, allowing creators to create confidently in wind, light rain, sand, or humidity with peace of mind.
- Instant NFC Pairing: With built-in NFC, creators can tap to add Ray fixtures in the amaran app in seconds – even before powering them on – streamlining multi-light setups and overhead rigs straight out of the box.
- Adaptive Control with FlowTurn Knob: The new FlowTurn knob offers adaptive, tactile control – fine, one-step adjustments when precision is needed or fast spins to accelerate through settings when speed matters.
- Dedicated Modifier Ecosystem: Mini reflectors, fresnels, and barn doors for the Ray 60c & 120c, full-size versions for the 360c & 660c, and a full-size Bowens Mount for seamless compatibility across the complete amaran softbox family.
amaran Ray 60c & 120c
The amaran Ray 60c (60W) and 120c (120W) are the first compact full-color COBs in the amaran lineup, designed for creators who need maximum mobility and a lighting kit that can move seamlessly from outdoor shoots to the studio without sacrificing light output or color quality. Creators will love features like:
- Ultra-Compact and Portable for On the Go: These lights pack full-color performance into ultra-slim (4.4cm, 5.1cm) and ultra-lightweight (528g, 599g) designs for the Ray 60c and 120c, respectively, allowing creators to travel lighter and set up faster in tight spaces and between locations, while still featuring a full-size Bowens Mount for pairing with amaran softboxes and modifiers.
- Brighter Than Previous Generations: The Ray 60c delivers 50% more output in a body roughly half the size of the amaran COB 60x S, while the Ray 120c provides 22% more output than the amaran 150c with nearly an 85% reduction in size – clear, practical upgrades for existing amaran users looking to refresh their mobile lighting setups.
- Cable-Free Power via Ace E-Lock: Using the amaran Ace E-Lock system with the all-new compact amaran Peak 75 (which will be available in January 2026) and amaran Peak battery systems, creators can build a secure, cable-free handheld or stand-mounted setup in seconds to power shoots on the go. The Ray 60c runs for 46 minutes on the amaran Peak 75, while the Ray 120c runs for 35 minutes on the amaran Peak, both measured at 100% output.
- Flexible USB-C PD Power: In addition to the included DC power adapter, the Ray 60c and 120c support USB-C PD input for flexible, travel-friendly power from a wide range of USB-C PD power banks and chargers – no outlets or heavy power bricks required.
- Complete Mobile Lighting Kit: These fixtures come standard as ready-to-shoot kits, complete with the all-new amaran Octa Dome 30 Softbox, Diffuser and Grid, Ace Lock to Baby Pin Adapter Grip, Power Adapter, and Cable – all packed in a dedicated bag.
amaran Ray 360c & 660c
The amaran Ray 360c (360W) and 660c (660W) are amaran’s most powerful full-color COBs to date, marking the brand’s entrance into the 600W power class for studio creators who need more power to light larger spaces. Designed for dedicated studio environments, these fixtures bring accurate color and high output into all-in-one builds that run on a single AC cable, while keeping workflows creator-friendly. Highlights include:
- All-in-One, Monolight Design: Both fixtures integrate the power supply directly into the light head, running from a single AC cable with no bulky external power brick to carry, mount, or manage – keeping studio setups efficient and clutter-free. The Ray 660c is also the first full-color COB in its power class to achieve this streamlined, all-in-one design.
- Powerful, Studio-Scale Output: Building on the success of the amaran 300c, the Ray 360c delivers over 80% more output, making it the new workhorse for studio creators. The Ray 660c stands as the brightest amaran COB to date, giving creators the headroom to light from farther distances and cover wider studio spaces.
- Advanced DMX Control via USB-C: These fixtures introduce DMX control via an optional USB-C to 5-Pin DMX In & Out Adapter, allowing studio and production teams to integrate the Ray 360c and 660c into industry-standard lighting console workflows for precise cueing and multi-light synchronization.
