Flexible subscription plans and online purchasing make Sony XYN professional spatial content creation more accessible for a wide range of creators.
First announced in April 2026, XYN spatial capture solution consists of three applications: XYN Spatial Scan Navi, a smartphone application that assists with capturing spatial content; XYN Spatial Scan, a cloud application (available on XYN website) that generates high-quality 3DCG assets from real-world spaces; and XYN Spatial Renderer Plugin, a rendering plugin that displays generated assets for applications such as virtual production.
Since the initial announcement, XYN spatial capture solution has added software updates to all three applications, to support the creation of 3DCG assets for a wider range of subjects, from props and consumer products to vehicles and larger industrial assets. This expands opportunities across VFX production, gaming, virtual production, digital twin creation, product visualization, and immersive digital experiences.
Now, Sony announces that the solution, which enables creators to capture real-world objects and environments and generate high-quality 3DCG (3D Computer Graphics) assets, is available in the United States (excluding U.S. territories) and Canada, through a range of flexible purchasing options. According to Sony, multiple subscription plans, token options, and online credit card purchasing make the solution accessible to freelance production professionals, small production teams, studios, and enterprise customers. Users can select the package that best aligns with their creative workflows, project scale, budget, and production requirements.
Each plan includes application licenses, while paid plans provide token allocations for 3DCG asset generation and the free plan offers the ability to purchase tokens individually, as needed. Additional tokens can be purchased and are planned to be supported across additional XYN applications in the future.
As a new initiative in XYN software development, Sony plans to begin rolling out Lab apps by the end of 2026, which will allow creators to test features and algorithms under development within the XYN platform. Feedback from creators, Sony says, “will be continuously incorporated into feature improvements and future development to enhance the quality of the applications offered.”
“XYN is one of those tools that makes hard to film locations easy to capture as a digital asset, process it, and bring it back to your LED volume or to your green screen stage,” said Erik “Wolfie” Wolford, Director of Photography. “It provides high quality, fillable scans from your phone mounted to your mirrorless camera. It makes it easy to scan a location, and ‘digitally fold and hold’ it, in case you need to do reshoots later on. I see so many uses for this well integrated tool.”
“Not only can we capture historical buildings and generate photorealistic 3DCG assets with the XYN spatial capture solution — we are also preserving history, with a faithful model of structures and locations as they stand at a specific point in time,” said Justin Kirchhoff, Virtual Production Supervisor Virtual Production Institute College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts for Texas A&M University. “As our campus changes and technologies explore new data sets, we foresee using the solution in many spaces beyond virtual production. And once props and animated CG objects can live inside these captured environments, the range of what we can create will open up even further.”
By registering for an XYN account, users can take advantage of certain application features and purchase additional tokens to generate 3DCG assets.
