Independent cinema thrives on ingenuity, resourcefulness, and a relentless commitment to story. Shoot to Create will break down how filmmakers shape visual language through intentional framing, lighting, and movement; how they collaborate with small but mighty crews; and how they turn constraints into creative power. A dynamic, inside-the-process look at how indie filmmakers craft bold, personal, and unforgettable films from the ground up. Panelists include filmmaker Warwick Thornton, ACS (“The New Boy”), “Didn’t Die” Director-Writer Meera Menon and Cinematographer-Writer Paul Gleason, with moderator Naida Albright.
How Cinematic & Immersive Technologies Are Redefining Live Events
Friday, June 5: 4:45-5:35 pm
Live events are being reimagined. From global music festivals to major events, cinema‑grade cameras and immersive technologies are transforming how audiences experience entertainment—whether in the venue or watching from across the world. This session brings leaders in live production, immersive media, and event cinematography together to discuss the large‑format cameras, precision motion systems, and emerging platforms putting viewers inside the action, and the creative and technical choices that make it all work at scale. Attendees will gain candid insight into real‑world workflows, the pressure of live production, and the rapidly rising expectations across venues, broadcasts, and immersive experiences. Panelists include Stefaan “Smasher” Desmedt of Fuse Technical Group and Fabrice Lorenceau, COSM vice president and head of live production.
