North Plains Systems Inc., the leading provider ofdigital asset management (DAM),media asset management (MAM) and publishing software solutions, today announced the latest version of its award-winning TeleScope Video Manager. Groundbreaking in its ability to edit and annotate hi-resolution, 16-track audio proxies via a web browser, the release supports network-based capture of high-definition (HD) and standard-definition (SD) video from tape or live-sources, enabling marketing departments, broadcast, media, & entertainment (BM&E) companies to move to tapeless workflows for their video and digital media production and distribution. The release includes full support for both Telestream FlipFactory 7.0 video transcoding software and the award-winning Telestream Pipeline video capture system.
The solution continues to address the unrelenting demand for post production use and distribution of new content. Video Manager 3.1 makes possible video production archive and editing workflows that require secure digital video storage, simplified rights-managed access to the video archive, and seamless distribution capabilities across organizations and third party agencies. It integrates with third party non-linear editing software including Apple’s Final Cut Pro (FCP) and Avid editing systems, as well as archive, transcoding, and delivery systems.
Marketing organizations in every industry, including BM&E, manufacturing, retail, pharma, financial services, publishing, government and education, are using video as part of their core communication, training and promotional activities and most importantly to differentiate themselves from their competition. They need a sophisticated but simple-to-use solution for cost-effectively creating, editing, and distributing short and long form video across multiple platforms like YouTube, Facebook, cable, broadcast, etc. This latest version of North Plains’ TeleScope Video Manager 3.1 allows marketers, trainers and advertisers to remotely ingest both HD and SD video from tape or live sources, and make it instantly available in an enterprise-class media asset management system for simple, secure access via a browser anywhere in the world. This award-winning solution gives them more control over the costs and processes normally associated with the creation, management, distribution and monetization of their organization’s digital assets.
“It’s not just the broadcast, media and entertainment companies that need to work efficiently and cost effectively with video,” said Hassan Kotob, President and CEO, North Plains Systems. “We’re seeing companies from all industries that need to digitize their existing and historical taped video, and be able to easily find and edit, annotate, conform and distribute it along with their new digital video. Video Manager 3.1 addresses that need.”
The new integration with Telestream Pipeline enables users of Video Manager 3.1 to take advantage of its ability to pre-populate records in the MAM with information or metadata used to identify and search for the converted digital video in advance of Pipeline’s conversion of the tapes into digital files and ingestion into the MAM. It also supports batch ingest from EDLs to encode multiple clips from a single tape, as well as the capture of tape-based metadata allowing companies to more easily transition from tape-based workflows to tapeless workflows with the correct metadata schemas making it easy to then find the digital video by simple and advanced search in the MAM.
“North Plains has had a longstanding partnership with Telestream,” said Anna Greco, Director of Product Marketing and Business Development, Telestream. “The integration with both Pipeline and FlipFactory 7.0 continues to deepen that relationship and provide North Plains’ TeleScope MAM and Video Manager 3.1 users with the fastest and most robust transcoding and network video capture capabilities available today.”
North Plains TeleScope DAM and Video Manager use FlipFactory to extract video metadata, transcode and deliver video, and create storyboards. Video Manager 3.1 takes advantage of the unique capability in FlipFactory 7.0 to create high definition H.264 MPEG 4 proxies with 16 channels of compressed audio (AAC) for reduced file size while maintaining high resolution and time-code accuracy.
Available in both fully installed and SaaS format, TeleScope Media Asset Management and Video Manager 3.1 are ideally suited for organizations that create, ingest, distribute and sell video assets as well as all kinds of related files, including images, scripts, artwork, audio files, PDF documents and more. Widely used by creative professionals including video editors, marketing and advertising professionals and photographers, TeleScope Video Manager gives organizations the tools they need to streamline costly video workflows and facilitates the migration from tape to file— giving organizations the ability to optimize their creative processes and capitalize on new revenue opportunities not previously considered possible with legacy systems.
