Matthews Studio Equipment will debut their MICROgrip and MICROmount systems at IBC (Hall 11, Booth G71) and CINEC (Hall 3 – A11). MICROgrip is a broad range of mounting and grip products developed around the MICROgrip Head.
With a diameter of only a 1.25″ (32mm) and tapped 3/8″ rods of various lengths, MICROgrip Head allows all of the moves and features of its bigger 2.5″ brother but in a smaller package.
MICROmounts, for light and/or monitor mounting, utilize two of the MICROgrip Heads and three lengths of 3/8″ rod to create a highly flexible mount that can get light up, up and away – as far and as flexible as needed. They also serve as on-camera monitor mount, allowing placement of monitor almost anywhere. With extra MICROmount components, a monitor and light can be mounted from the same ¼-20 or ¾-16 camera mount.
“MICROmount is perfect to get on-camera light up from the camera body and off to either side to create directional, sculptured, instead of flat lighting,” explains MSE’s owner and CEO Ed Phillips. “And MICROgrip great for Tabletop and miniature work where you need to get up close and personal as well.”
The Basic MICROmount kit is $112.00. And MICROmount basic is $158.00. Additional MICROgrip and MICROmount accessories range from $6.00 to $40.00.
MICROgrip and MICROmount are from MSE, the privately owned grip and lighting support company that was recently honored with the 2010 Presidential “E” Award for outstanding contributions to growing U.S. exports, strengthening the economy and creating American jobs. MSE employs over 70 full-time workers at their Burbank, California facility. As of this month, MSE equipment is being used on entertainment productions in over 70 countries around the world. They recently filled a 53-foot tractor-trailer with Matthews grip equipment for a Los Angeles-based company and shipped three 40-foot containers with everything from MiniGrips to Super Crank-o-vators to Budapest, Hungary.
