Fujifilm utilized Cine Gear 2026 to show off the latest in its longstanding dynasty of camera hardware and peripherals. We took a look at a supercharged addition to their lineup of GFX lenses as well as a landmark first in the company’s history of cinema cameras. A New Cinema Titan: The IMAX-Certified GFX ETERNA 55

The GFX ETERNA 55 is Fujifilm’s first digital filmmaking camera, representing a bold step into the future while still keeping to their roots. The camera pairs the company’s large-format 102MP GFX sensor architecture with a dedicated filmmaking body designed for professional production environments.

The camera features a native 4:3 open-gate sensor format capable of up to 8K recording, giving cinematographers increased flexibility for anamorphic workflows, reframing, and multi-format theatrical or streaming delivery pipelines. The imaging sensor is touted as one of the tallest on the market, and results show, with increased angles of view allowing for flexibility in anamorphic squeezes and selectable aspect ratios. The ETERNA 55 puts the image directly in the hands of the cinematographers.

Fujifilm is also leaning heavily into its decades-long reputation for color science and film stock emulation, bringing F-Log2 C recording alongside its ETERNA Film Simulation profile to a cinema-focused workflow intended to preserve highlight rolloff and tonal depth across large-format capture. Professional production features including internal electronic variable ND filters, ProRes recording, dual-base ISO operation, Frame.io Camera-to-Cloud integration, proxy recording support, and compatibility with PL-mount cinema lenses position the ETERNA 55 well beyond the company’s hybrid mirrorless offerings and firmly within the realm of dedicated cinema systems.

The ETERNA 55 is also IMAX-certified, cementing Fujifilm’s push toward premium large-format filmmaking workflows.

The Workhorse Glass: GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR Power Zoom

 Fujifilm’s appearance at Cine Gear also featured new Fujifilm GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR, a versatile power zoom lens tailored for smaller production teams, offering flexibility and efficiency while not compromising on the capabilities creatives expect from Fujifilm products.

The lens covers a versatile 32-90mm focal range (roughly equivalent to 25-71mm in full-frame terms) while maintaining a constant T3.5 aperture throughout the zoom range. More importantly, the use of T-stop calibration rather than traditional photographic f-stops immediately positions the lens within professional cinema workflows, where precise light transmission and lens matching are critical for production consistency. The GF32-90mmT3.5 is purpose-built as a workhorse “A-camera” lens for documentary, narrative, and commercial filmmaking. Its range spans moderate wide-angle through portrait focal lengths, giving operators the flexibility to remain on a single lens for much of a production day.

The lens also incorporates a powered zoom mechanism with variable-speed servo control, internal optical image stabilization, minimized focus breathing, and standardized 0.8M cine gearing for compatibility with follow-focus and wireless lens control systems. A lengthy 200-degree focus rotation further reinforces the lens’s cinema-first design philosophy, allowing for precise manual focus pulls in large-format shallow depth-of-field scenarios.

Fujifilm’s Claim to the Premium Large-Format Market

Taken together, the ETERNA 55 and GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR mark Fujifilm’s clearest declaration of competing within the premium cinema production space alongside established players in large-format digital filmmaking. The company has remained a household institution for decades, and for good reason. In an arms race of pushing the resolution ceilings higher, meeting the demands of the most intensive production environments, innovation remains at the forefront.
