The biggest FL Studio Mobile update in a decade adds FL Cloud Sounds for every user, portrait mode and a redesigned workspace, free for everyone who owns the app.
FL Studio, the world’s most popular Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), developed by Image-Line, today announced FL Studio Mobile 5 for iOS and Android. The update brings FL Cloud Sounds, the sample library built into FL Studio on desktop, to the mobile app for the first time. Every FL Studio Mobile user now gets thousands of free FL Cloud Sounds in the new Sounds tab, with no account required. With a paid FL Cloud plan, users get the full library of over two million royalty-free sounds on their phone.
FL Studio Mobile 5 arrives ten years after the app first put a full music studio on the phone, and, according to the company, it is the biggest update since. Like every FL Studio Mobile update, it comes under Image-Line’s Lifetime Free Updates promise.
“Ten years ago, we put a full music studio in people’s pockets,” said Constantin Koehncke, CEO of Image-Line. “With Version 5, we’re taking another big step by bringing FL Cloud sounds to mobile. Thousands of sounds are now available for free to every FL Studio Mobile user, making it easier than ever to get started and make music wherever you are. And with portrait mode, one of our most requested features, we’re delivering something our community has been asking for for a long time.”
The Sounds tab streams previews instantly, so browsing does not take up space on the device. Only sounds added to a project are downloaded, in full resolution. FL Cloud subscribers sign in with their Image-Line account and get the same library as on desktop, with search by genre, tags and curated collections. No credits to count. New users can start a free FL Cloud trial directly in the app.
Portrait mode lets producers make music holding the phone the way they hold it all day. The app turns with your phone, or you can lock it to portrait or landscape in the settings.
The update also brings a redesigned workspace across the playlist, editors, Channel Rack and transport bar, plus drag and drop from the browser and other apps, improved mouse and keyboard support, a paste preview, Burn Notes to Track, Smart Solo and dozens of other workflow upgrades.
FL Studio Mobile 5 is available now on the App Store and Google Play. Existing users can update for free.
