The new cinematic trailer for Farming Simulator 22 is here, and calling it ‘impressive’ is an understatement by any standards!
The opening scene continues the familiar bluesy guitar riff that we heard in the teaser, and that itself is enough to send some into a farming frenzy. The narration follows a father-daughter duo working and grinding the farm life, shown in CGI quality comparable to the Final Fantasy franchises.
The trailer goes on to reveal some exciting visuals that promise to make FS22 worth the wait. We now know even more about some new crops, machines, possible Farming Simulator 22 mods, seasonal cycles, etc.
There’s a lot to unpack and look at here, so let’s get straight into it!
The Trailer’s Visual Quality
Alright, so this isn’t necessarily a gameplay element. But the CGI quality was so incredible that we had to give it a shout-out.
Plus, the graphics for the trailer isn’t a direct reflection of the game’s graphics. So, if Giants Software is willing to craft a cinematic trailer so spectacular, we can probably expect some great graphics in the game too.
For now, we know that FS22’s parallax occlusion will bring 3D and visual enhancements to the game’s graphics and textures. So, things should look even better with this title, especially the new crops!
New Crops
We’ve officially got confirmation on three of the new crops in Farming Simulator 22 – grapes, olives, and sorghum.
The grapes will specifically grow on vineyards, which may, at some aesthetics to the landscape too. So, there’ll be special machines for loosening and mulching the ground. The olives will grow on small olive trees, and sorghum will likely grow similar to the sweet grass family of plants. For the uninitiated, sorghum is a nutritious cereal popular in farming communities across Asia and Africa but probably lesser-known in Western or European regions. The name may sound weird, but you’ll surely know the end product in the game – flour.
All three crops can be harvested and converted to a final product. So, grapes become juice, olive to oil, and sorghum to flour, which takes us to the next element – production chains.
Production Chains
Unlike in FS19, where Global Company is a mod, production chains are not FS22 mods. They’re new additions. So, there aren’t many details available on FS22’s production chains yet.
But we do know that there’s more income to earn if you can move your crops through the chain efficiently. For instance, your harvested wheat can go to the bakery, where it gets converted into flour. Deliver this flour to the bakery, and you can choose whether it becomes fresh bread or sweet cakes. This means new shops and buildings like the Grain Mill or the Bakery. And most of these actions will be affected by seasonal changes.
The Seasonal Cycles
One of the most significant additions to this new title is the seasonal cycle. And no, it’s not some FS22 mods we’re talking about. Seasonal changes will now be an intrinsic part of the base game.
This implies a whole lot of things. Your cropping patterns, planting and harvesting times, machine operation, etc., will all be subject to the weather and natural elements of the existing season. So, expect a lot of new game dynamics on this feature alone!
New Brands and Machines
With new crops and seasonal variations, we’ll obviously need new machinery. We know that the New Holland Braud 9070L Harvester will be used to harvest grapes. And the Olives will use the 9090x Harvester of the same brand.
Also, the John Deer X9 Combine and the X9 Harvester are both part of the game’s visuals. Fans in the US will love the addition of the new Mack trucks because they’ve been on many players’ wish lists for some years now.
Of course, with new machines and operations, there’s bound to be new FS22 mods.
New Farming Simulator 22 Mods
Although the Farming Simulator series has been a great game in itself, the enhancements provided by mods are simply unmatched. For PC players, they’re indispensable additions to the game. And console players have also enjoyed them for the last few titles now. And you can bet that the new Farming Simulator 22 mods will come with previously unseen mechanics.
With major additions to the base game (seasons, new crops, new machines, etc.), there is even more for modders to capitalize on. Also, the good news is that this latest title will support FS22 mods. And there’s no doubt that modders will already be working on cool Farming Simulator 22 mods that will really enhance the game.
Where will all these new FS22 mods and machines operate? The new maps, of course!
New Maps
There’s already been confirmation that the familiar Erlangrat map will come back as a re-mastered version. So, you can expect improvements there too.
That aside, we’ll also get a new American map, as seen in the trailers and visuals released so far. There’s no confirmation on the third map yet. But most of the speculation leans towards the grape and olive growing regions like France or Italy. However, we’ll get further updates soon enough.
Bonus Resources for FS22
Besides mobile devices, FS22 is set to be released for every major gaming platform (Sorry, Android and iOS).
Pre-orders are already available. And they’ll exclusively come with the CLAAS Xerion Saddle Trac Pack. So, if you want a taste of these new machines, you should consider a pre-order too. Meanwhile, PC users will get access to the Collector’s Edition. It has goodies like Modding Tutorials and a Beacon Light that responds to in-game signals.
Either way, we’ll have to wait till FarmCon 21 for bigger reveals. It starts on the 21st and goes till the 23rd. Also, Giants Software has announced that they’ll officially release the game on November 22 (probably in tune with the ‘22’ in the title).
