(Burbank, CA) Createasphere – a global community builder for the entertainment technology industry – has wrapped four days of conferences, expositions, education and awards focused directly on the needs of a broad array of professional content creators and content stewards. Thought leaders in creation, post production and digital asset management gathered last week to share the latest developments and news with industry luminaries. The week wrapped with a gala – the Second Annual DAMMY Award luncheon – which premiered in New York last year. All of the events took place at the New Yorker Hotel in Manhattan.
Returning to New York for its fourth year, the Entertainment Technology Expo featured a number of events centered on content creators; sponsored by the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), Post New York Alliance (PNYA), American Cinema Editors (ACE), and Post Magazine. The events included the first public East Coast screening of the Single Chip Camera Evaluation, hosted by Bob Primes, ASC, and a breakfast for the Friends of the ASC, an east coast ASC Members meeting, and a panel of expert cinematographers sponsored by ASC. Speakers included; Sandi Sissel, ASC, Bob Primes, ASC, former ASC President Richard Crudo, ASC, and moderator Iain Stasukevich, New York Correspondent for American Cinematographer. The event also unveiled NAB Show Day – a new collaboration uniting the NAB Show community with Createasphere’s Entertainment Technology community. A busy exhibition floor with many leading companies including Sony, B&H, AJA, and Canon were on hand.
Createasphere’s Digital Asset Management Conference – the premier event for learning about important solutions and technology at the intersection of content creation and information management for the entertainment and media industries – presented two days of keynotes, in-depth sessions, and networking events. Speakers included experts from NASA, The Green Bay Packers, America’s Test Kitchen, HBO, New York Public Library, Showtime, Open Text, MD Anderson Cancer Center, DPCI, Avid, and many more in a dynamic, engaged program.
Kristin Petrovich Kennedy, President of Createasphere, noted, “The growth and success of Createasphere’s Digital Asset Management conferences indicates the growing need to engage with our community about the issues that challenge them, and we look forward to an even greater year coming up. We are also thrilled to announce that in November 8-9, 2011, Createasphere will present Digital Asset Management Conference-Europe, at The Hague, for our European colleagues. Digital Asset Management Conference-Europe is shaping up beautifully and we are announcing the lineup the first week of October 2011. We see this as a critical geographical and topical area for Createasphere’s Digital Asset Management Conference.”
On September 23rd, the DAMMY Awards Show and luncheon honored those leaders in asset management. For a list of the winners visit http://provideocoalitionexpo.com/En/dammys.html.
The Post Production Master Class, running congruently with the Digital Asset Management Conference, featured a top lineup of experts from across the post production industry, and included an in-depth, interactive opportunity to spend time looking at the most compelling issues and latest information with those in the process. The Post Production Master Class featured support from NAB Show, American Society of Cinematographers, Post New York Alliance, New York Production Alliance, and American Cinema Editors and speakers from
Company 3 New York, Technicolor, MegaPlayground, American Cinema Editors, American Society of Cinematographers, Brainstorm Digital, PostWorks NY, and RevUp Render who shared their expertise and interacted with a class of working post production professionals.
Petrovich Kennedy commented on the event, “To see the different pieces of the event grow and take hold is inspiring. Our DAMMY audience was sold out. The Digital Asset Management Conference has really found its legs and was beautifully put together by Mary Yurkovic. The Entertainment Technology Expo brought great exhibitors in touch with a strong audience, and we were delighted to meet the content creators and cinematographers who joined us for panels, screenings, and events. In addition, we see our Post Production Master Class as an area where some of the most exciting developments are happening for the industry. All of us on the Createasphere team love working with our New York colleagues and collaborators and look forward to an exciting series of upcoming events there and around the country.”
