Compare: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2500 and JVC GY-HC500 1” type 4K cameras

Both of these 1” type 4K cameras are optically so similar. Let’s see why the are so apart in cost.

I am intrigued to compare these two 1” type 4K cameras/camcorders. They share the same sensor size, same maximum aperture at both extremes of the permanent zoom, and virtually the same maximum angle of view in most shooting formats. They even share the same ND (neutral density) filter values. However, one costs about US$998 while the other costs US$3695, and one also weighs less than a third. Let’s see why the huge difference in price is in the tiny details, and where in some areas, the lower cost of the two actually offers much more flexibility, at least with the initial firmware offering of the other.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2500 (which I first covered in this article) is currently selling for about US$998 (AmazonB&H), while the JVC GY-HC500 (which I first covered in this article) is currently selling for US$3695 (B&H). Which one do you favor, and why?
