Blackmagic Camera 10.3 update adds SMPTE-2110 video support to Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF, bringing, the company says, “ stunning cinematic quality to live production!” 

When the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF is set to SMPTE-2110 Live in the menu, it instantly transforms into a live studio camera, according to the company, meaning that “you get real-time SMPTE-2110 video from the 10G Ethernet connector, supporting up to 2160p60 with cinematic quality and 16 stops of dynamic range.” 

 Additional updates include:

• New generation 6 color science, which features numerous imaging improvements for the URSA Cine sensor, with extremely accurate color reproduction for natural and pleasing skin tones. This update adds dual LUT functionality with two 3D LUT processors for different outputs, plus an extra 3D LUT just for the SMPTE-2110 output. When operating in 2110 the LUTs are applied after the color corrector, so corrections are on top of DaVinci Wide Gamut.
• A built-in color corrector for live production based on DaVinci Resolve’s primary color corrector, so now you can color correct video live! You can use traditional controls for iris, black level and RGB color tint, all available on the ATEM Camera Control Panel. However, you can go much further by using DaVinci Resolve control panels with trackballs, giving you separate control over lift, gamma and gain across Y, R, G and B channels. This powerful color corrector, combined with the URSA Cine sensor’s 16 stops of dynamic range, means you can create incredibly cinematic looks that are simply not possible with traditional broadcast cameras.
• Support for the new Blackmagic URSA Cine Mount B4 and Blackmagic URSA Cine B4 Adapter Cable. B4 lenses are ideal for live production as they are electronically controlled and react quickly. This update also includes support for the new Blackmagic URSA Cine Studio Viewfinder, a large, bright 7 inch touchscreen viewfinder designed for live production environments.
• Support for pre-record function to Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF allowing you to record up to 10 minutes of action before you press the record button. This means every important moment is safely captured, critical for unpredictable or fast changing environments like documentaries, news or live events.
• Additional new features for Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF include Blackmagic RAW 4.6K crop format, 4 channel audio recording and SDI Camera Control input on SDI B. This update also includes improved battery compatibility, REST API support and lens control.
