Media Composer 101 – Lesson 6 – Bins part 2

In the second of our two part look at bins, we'll take a look at some tucked away features of Media Composer that will really help you get organized, and stay organized right from import to delivery.

In the part one of our look at Bins, we covered the basics to keep you organized, as you start out your edits.  In part two, I wanted to take a look at some great, tucked away features in the Bin drop down menu that will help you find the clips you're looking for as quickly as possible.  Some seasoned editors might look at this tutorial and the one before as ones to skip.  For me, I see these as a great way to find some hidden gems that can be passed along ot a new assistant editor, to keep them organized, which in turn, keeps you more organized.  It's important to look beyond just the standard “bin”, and find out how to do things like sort your media in your bin, find the clips that are not associated with your sequence (basically to see what you're not using), and how to hide clips in your bin, to that you don't have to delete them, but also so they don't distract you when you're looking for that “must have” shot.  This tutorial is full of great quick tips that will have you going back to them, time and time again.
