Media Composer 101 – Advanced – Creating SD DVD’s from HD, 2K & 4K Projects part 1

In this week's Media Composer 101 tutorial, Kevin P McAuliffe will show you how to create SD screening DVD's from HD, 2K, 4K and UHD projects.  If you don't think through what you're doing, you could run into trouble quicker than you think.

As much as some companies would like us to believe, DVD's and Blu-Rays are here to stay.  The problem is that creating them can lead to huge problems if an editor is not paying attention.  Whether it's the wrong field dominance, or wrong pulldown, if you don't pay attention at each step of the process, the final disc won't look right, and you could spend hours, or sometimes days trying to figure out what the problem is.  In this first of a multi-part tutorial, I'll show you how to take a 4K 23.98 project inside of Avid Media Composer, and export an SD QuickTime file that is ready to be processed in an application like Sorenson Squeeze or Adobe Media Encoder.  Once you see the process, you'll see not only the bells and whistles to make your footage look as good as possible, but I'll also show you any pitfalls you might run into, so you can avoid problems, before they begin!
