Negron emphasized the difficulty of balancing detailed explanations with audience engagement. This selective approach was essential to ensure viewers could follow the film’s plot, which revolves around a dying sun threatening Earth and beyond.

Another major aspect discussed is the dynamic of working with two directors and a collaborative workflow. Negron describes the trio’s creative process as “super collaborative and creative,” highlighting the benefit of the director’s background as writers, which facilitated script and dialogue development during editing. He also explains how improvisation, especially by lead actor Ryan Gosling, added layers that required careful refinement, noting their initial cut for Project Hail Mary exceeded four hours.
