I have an old WD green 2tb drive that I’ve had in a plugable docking station. I’m not sure if the drive itself is going bad OR the docking station itself is the culprit. There’s no unusual sounds coming from the drive…..but when I try to move data from the drive to another drive on Windows, it goes along fine for about 10 min’s then suddenly goes to 0 … when It goes to zero, everything is totally locked up and I have to reboot. This doesn’t happen with my other drives (but they are not in a docking station) only this one drive. I tried a different cable to the docking station too just to be safe (same thing)..I’ve never experienced a hard drive failure but I’ve heard you usually will get clicking noises or strange noises coming from the drive.
