Working with Keyframes in Motion 1

This week on MacBreak Studio, I get back to the basics in Motion by showing Steve Martin from Ripple Training how to create animation with keyframes.

Keyframes are the basic building blocks for creating custom animations and Motion has a variety of tools for working with them including a dedicated Keyframe Editor, as well as the ability to manipulate keyframes in the Timeline and in the Canvas itself. Once you've set keyframes you can manipulate them in all three areas. You can also create them and change their values in the Inspector.

You can also create animation in Motion using Behaviors, which allow you to animate graphics, video, cameras, particle systems, replicators and more without setting a single keyframe. And while behaviors are incredibly powerful, sometimes using keyframes is the best approach for a given task. In fact, my general rule of thumb is that if you want precise control over how an animation starts and stops, then it's likely that keyframes will give you the most control.
