Oppo joins Vivo and Xiaomi offering alternatives to the regular Samsung and Apple bands in terms of flagships, and the new Find X9 Ultra is another sign of how partnerships work to make smartphones more cameras than smartphones for each new generation. After Xiaomi’s 17 Ultra with Leica and the vivo X300 Ultra with Zeiss, it’s time for Oppo to show how its partnership with Hasselblad has worked.
The Oppo Find X9 Ultra co-developed with Hasselblad is built around a new Hasselblad Master Camera System with four cameras… or five if you count the selfie-camera, which features a 50MP sensor paired with a 21mm-equivalent lens opening at f/2.4 and, according to Oppo, captures “richer color and wider dynamic range, bringing rear-camera quality to every front-facing moment” creating selfies that gain “cinematic clarity and detail.”
The rear cameras, though, are what makes this a tool for photographers and videographers. The Oppo Find X9 Ultra features a 50MP ultrawide (14mm) with a 1/1.95-inch sensor, a 200MP 1/1.12-inch main camera (23mm), a 200MP 3x telephoto (70mm) with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and a 50MP 10x telephoto (230mm), giving users, Oppo claims, 8 pro lenses – macro, 14mm, 23mm, 47mm, 70mm, 230mm and 460mm. Powered by the latest LUMO Image Engine, it captures Oppo adds, “ultra-clear detail across eight precise focal lengths from 0.6x to 20x. Seamless transitions, uncompromising clarity — like carrying eight professional lenses in your pocket. Lift. Shoot. Create a masterpiece.”
The Hasselblad 200MP main camera uses a 200MP Sony Lytia 901 1/1.12″ sensor paired with a 23mm f/1.5 lens. Introduced as your main camera for front row live shows, the lens can focus as close as 13cm and can capture video at 8K30/4K120. Oppo says that with this camera you can “create stunning night photos, rich with light and detail” thanks to the ultra-large sensor, “refined optics, and DSLR-grade aperture” that keep “every frame epic and immersive.”
The final camera, the 50MP ultra wide camera, uses a 50MP Sony Lytia 600 1/1.95″ sensor paired with a 14mm f/2.0 lens allowing users to “capture sweeping scenes with immersive scale and clarity. A 123° ultra-wide field of view, large sensor, and wide aperture preserve light and detail, from vast landscapes to architectural precision.”
The Oppo Find X9 Ultra also includes a new-generation True Color Camera that faithfully captures natural tones in real time across every lens and focal length. Oppo says that it continuously adapts to shifting color temperatures, to render “lifelike skin tones, vibrant skies, and authentic ambient light even in complex mixed-light scenes” thanks to a system built around 24 spectral channels, more color information and 15 stops High Dynamic Range across all captures (photo, motion photo, and video).
The flagship model from Oppo also uses “Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution”. Powered by full-link original colour ProXDR, the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution brings iconic natural tones to life in stunning dynamic range. Whether shooting in HDR or SDR, every scene is rendered with vibrant precision and true-to-eye accuracy — just as the world was meant to be seen. The model also features Hasselblad Nature Tonality. Co-developed with Hasselblad, it’s a new generation of tonal curves that refines light and shadow with film-like depth. Through precise global tonal processing and color calibration, highlights flow naturally and colors remain distinct — delivering rich texture and cinematic atmosphere across every focal length.
The “New-Generation Hasselblad Master Mode” present allows users to take full creative control with manual ISO, shutter speed, focus, and white balance. Or take your pick from nine film-style presets. Shoot in RAW MAX, JPG MAX, ProXDR, or Master Motion Photo, and craft cinematic-quality images ready to edit and share your way.

Video capture reaches 8K at 30fps. It’s also possible to capture cinematic 4K at 120fps with Cinematic Slo-mo 4K 120fps Dolby Vision Video.
Oppo says that cinematic LUTs are supported, adding “apply cinematic LUTs with a single tap and give your footage a unified, professional tonal language. Shoot in Log, preview in real time, and even burn LUTs directly into your video. With three finely tuned presets and support for custom Cube LUT imports, true film grading now fits in your pocket.”

Officially launched on April 21, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is going to be available globally (except US, apparently). The suggested retail price in the UK is £1,449, which translates to somewhere close to $2,000. Online shops like Giztop offer the global model for $1,499 (the 12GB 512GB version) and ask $1,699 for the 16GB 1TB version. According to the information available online, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra will begin to ship on May 15. I want one!
