Immediately available to download, the firmware upgrade Ver. 4.0 gives the Panasonic VariCam LT even more assets when it comes to the competition.
Panasonic announced that the firmware, which you can download following the link, adds RAW signal output via two 3G-SDI terminals to an external RAW recorder at 4K or UHD 60p. RAW recording will be compatible with the Odyssey 7Q and 7Q+ monitor/recorders from Convergent Design Inc. and the Atomos Inc. Shogun Inferno recording monitor. The recorded CinemaDNG file is compatible with DaVinci Resolve 12.5.1, Drastic Media Reactor 5.04 and upcoming versions of major NLEs and grading systems.

Both Convergent Design and Atomos had announced support of VariCam LT RAW output at NAB 2016. In terms of the Odyssey RAW option from Convergent Design, the “upcoming firmware update of the RAW Bundle option for the Odyssey7Q+ and Odyssey7Q monitor/recorders, expected by the end of September 2016, will support VariCam LT RAW. The customer who already has the RAW Bundle option will be able to upgrade at no additional cost.”
Atomos announced new features for the Shogun Inferno recording monitor at IBC 2016 including a free upgrade to support VariCam LT RAW, which lets users record as CDNG, Apple ProRes or AVID DNxHR.
