news week 23

A digest of last week’s news is a selection of some of the news from week 22 from 2016 related to the worlds of photography and video, covering multiple topics, always rounded up with a reading suggestion.

SmallHD “Studio” editions at Cine Gear

Hot on the heels of SmallHD’s daylight-viewable HDR production monitors the company premiered, at Cine Gear Expo, new “Studio” editions of the 17-inch and 24-inch sizes. “For those shooting in controlled lighting environments, the new 1703 and 2403 ‘Studio’ are perfect for the video village,” says Wes Phillips, SmallHD Co-Founder. “They feature the exact same build quality and software feature set, but don’t carry the same price tag of our extremely bright, daylight viewable HDR displays.” The 1703 Studio and 2403 Studio models come in at $2999 and $3499 respectively.

Red on NAB, Green on Cine Gear

This may not exactly classify as news, but last week Jarred Land wrote on RED’s forum that “ next year we are going to bail on NAB in April and instead move our entire roadshow to CINE GEAR in June which we feel has grown to become a much, much, much, much, much, much better show for us and our customers.” If you’re planning ahead your travels, and want to see RED, you might have to take this information into account.

With new categories in Professional, Open and Youth competitions, the event created by the World Photography Organisation is open to all photographers. “We are committed to challenging photographers to push their creative boundaries in the years to come” says Scott Gray, CEO, World Photography Organisation.
