Tiffen Filters launches new filter kits for the DJI Osmo Pocket handheld camera

Tiffen’s new filter kits for DJI Osmo Pocket

The new kits from Tiffen Filters for the stabilized handheld camera DJI Osmo Pocket. There are two sets to choose from, depending on your specific needs and creative inspiration.

Neutral density filters are an essential element in any photographer or videographer kit. Neutral density filters reduce the amount of light passing through the camera lens, allowing users to control overexposure when there is no other way to do it. ND’s are not just used to control light, they allow users to play creatively with shutter speed and apertures, meaning they are essential, too, if you want more creative freedom. Examples?

When you want to use a wide open aperture at high-noon and keep a slow shutter speed, there is no other way to do it than using NDs. There may be many reasons why you want to do that, from having a shallow depth of field to creating movement of the subjects framed, at a time of day when, otherwise, you would not be able to get the proper exposure and desired shutter speed.

The creative freedom of NDs

The advantage of ND filters is that, if they are technically good, they will reduce the amount of light that goes through the lens, without changing the color of the scene. These filters are a must have if you do landscape and nature photography, but you will also find them in the baggage of many professionals dealing with fashion, for example. They are also essential for better control of flash without using HSS. ND filters are something of a taste you acquire: once you’ve used them and discover what they can do for your imaging, it will be hard to let them behind, at home.

With DSLRs and other bigger cameras, you’ve better control of light and aperture, so ND are not always essential. But with small cameras as the DJI Osmo Pocket, where the control over light reaching the sensor is less than desirable, due to technical limitations, ND filters should be part of the kit you carry out with you. It’s a bit like what happens with cameras in drones – DJI included – where you go nowhere without a kit of NDs.

Two new kits for the DJI Osmo Pocket

That’s the reason why Tiffen Filters introduces, now, two filter kits: one is a three-filter kit of neutral density polarizer filters, the second a six-filter kit of neutral density and neutral density polarizers. Both kits are for DJI’s latest 3-axis stabilized handheld camera, DJI Osmo Pocket. The offer extends, after all, what Tiffen Filters already has for DJI drones, introducing similar solutions for the handheld camera.

The filters feature a multilayer and hydrophobic coating, waterproof surface and scratch prevention technology. They guarantee ultra-low reflection rates and have unmatched color fidelity. Its 4K high definition optical glass has a ten-year warranty.

“We’re excited to announce the launch of these filter kits for the popular DJI Osmo Pocket,” said Andrew Tiffen, SVP of Marketing, The Tiffen Company. “Matching our exclusive line of filters with the latest pocket-sized handheld gimble from DJI gives content creators the tools they need to enhance the cinematic footage they create with the device.”

Each filter kit includes a compact metal carrying case to safely pack and store the filters until ready for use, making it easy to take these filters on any video-worthy adventure with the DJI Osmo Pocket.

The Tiffen Filter Kits for the DJI Osmo Pocket can be purchased at http://www.tiffen.com as well as authorized resellers: B&H Photo, Adorama and internationally at Foto Konijnenberg. The filters will be showcased at NAB 2019, along with other products from The Tiffen Company.
