Introduced by Tamron as the perfect lens for photographers who want one lens to do (almost) everything—weekend trips, family moments, city breaks, nature walks, even casual sports—without juggling a bag of primes, the Tamron 25–200mm gets a G2 in the name, revealing it’s the classic and high acclaimed 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD (Model A071) reborn as an advanced 2nd-generation “G2” model. It’s Tamron’s way to celebrate the company’s 75 anniversary: delivering a new cutting-edge lens.

The new G2 model maintains its compact size while expanding the wide end from 28mm to 25mm and preserving the 200mm telephoto range. It offers improved image quality and faster, more precise autofocus powered by TAMRON’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism. This system delivers fast, precise autofocus performance while the refined exterior design enhances handling and overall usability.

The 25-200mm G2 excels at close-up photography with half-macro capability, achieving a maximum magnification ratio of 1:1.9 at 25mm. With a unified 67mm filter size and an ergonomically refined exterior, the lens supports Tamron Lens Utility software, so photographers can customize functions to match their shooting style and preferences.

Tamron says that “with its extended range, superior optical performance, and practical functionality, the G2 provides photographers with a versatile all-in-one lens solution for capturing everything from landscapes to portraits to detailed close-ups.
