Manfrotto Befree Camo tripods: a limited series for travelers

Manfrotto Befree Camo: a limited series for outdoor use

Manfrotto had to go back to its roots, with a tripod conceived for outdoor use. The Befree Camo green, called, Wild Green, is available in a limited series of 500. For the urban jungle you have the Rock Grey.

The classic Manfrotto 190 NAT 3 tripod or the 055 version, painted in green, are long gone. Those tripods painted in a camouflage green color were/are much appreciated by outdoor photographers. I am not sure if the green helped to keep the photographer hidden from view, what is apparently the idea with camo, but the truth is that I could not resist the temptation, and one of the first Manfrotto tripods I bought was a green 190 NAT 3, which still travels in the trunk of my jeep, wherever I go.

Now, although I don’t think I need a camo tripod, I must admit I would not mind having one of these new Befree Camo green that Manfrotto just announced. Furthermore, this is a limited edition, of only 500 tripods, says the company, meaning I would have a collection tripod, the Wild Green in my case. I know, it’s only a tripod, but we all do acquire some stuff because it looks nice, besides being useful. What a tripod always is.

The Rock Grey and Wild Green

The Befree Advanced Camo green is one of two models introduced by Manfrotto. The other tripod is the Rock Grey, which is probably an ideal colour for the grey days coming soon, and for those photographing in the urban jungle. Nature and wildlife photographers may prefer the Wild Green, which, thanks to its dedicated camouflage leg’s graphic colour, seems to be the perfect travel companion to enter into green landscapes hunting for the perfect shot.

Designed to be the ideal travel tripod for those who want to to be different and stylish, the Wild Green or Rock Grey share the same base specifications. These aluminium tripods use the new M-lock system that allows fast and secure operation, and offer a maximum height of 150 cm (or 127 cm with the center column down), and a minimum height of 40 cm. Able to take payloads up to 8 kg, the tripod has a weight of 1490 g and 40cm of length when closed. The 494 Center Ball Head with three independent ergonomic controls is ideal for travelers and stable enough for its intended use.

Priced at $189.99, the new BeFree Camo tripods are, as mentioned above, available in a limited edition of 500 pieces each version. If you want one, you better not wait for tomorrow! Or if you want a tripod that transforms into a monopod, you can check the Manfrotto Befree 2N1.
