Designed for creators on the go, the LUMIX S 20mm F2.5 delivers expansive perspectives while maintaining a compact and lightweight form factor. Particularly well suited to the LUMIX S9, it forms a highly portable full-frame system for daily photography, travel, street photography, landscapes, and video content creation.
With a focal length of 20 mm, the lens gives photographers plenty of room to work with the surroundings in the frame, capturing a greater sense of space and atmosphere without becoming excessively dramatic. This makes it well suited to landscapes, architecture and interiors, as well as travel and street photography where the environment is an important part of the image. The wide perspective is also useful for video, particularly when working in confined spaces or when both the subject and surroundings need to remain visible.
Despite its wide field of view, the LUMIX S 20 mm F2.5 measures approximately 40.9 mm in length and weighs around 142 g. The F2.5 maximum aperture provides additional flexibility in lower light and gives photographers more control over background separation than a typical compact kit zoom. A minimum focusing distance of 18 cm also makes it possible to work close to the subject while retaining the wide surroundings in the composition.
The optical construction consists of 11 elements in nine groups, including three aspherical elements and three ED elements. The lens is designed to provide natural rendering across the frame, while focus breathing suppression helps maintain a consistent angle of view during focus transitions in video.
The lens has dust-, splash- and freeze-resistant construction and a fluorine coating on the front element to make water droplets, fingerprints and dirt easier to remove. It accepts 62 mm filters. The LUMIX S 20mm F/2.5 (S-S20) will be available for $499.99 / €499 / £429 with expected shipping to start October 2026.
Alongside the launch of the LUMIX S 20mm F2.5, Panasonic will also release firmware and application updates designed to enhance the shooting experience across the LUMIX ecosystem. All updates will be available to download free of charge from October 13th via the LUMIX Global Customer Support website and app stores.
