Boris FX announces the acquisition of Vegas Pro (formerly Sony Vegas), Sound Forge, and Acid Pro from MAGIX Software GmbH. The acquisition brings new AI technology to Boris FX, along with the notable video editing and audio products. The additions further cement Boris FX’s commitment to provide artists and teams across media & entertainment, content creation, and music & sound industries with top tools that deliver fast, powerful, and unlimited creative possibilities.
Boris FX has a long history with the Vegas community as its tools were included in early Sony Vegas releases and continued through many versions under MAGIX.
“We’re thrilled to add Vegas Pro (formerly Sony Vegas), Sound Forge, and Acid Pro to our product family. We look forward to advancing all three with more power behind them,” states Boris Yamnitsky, President and Founder of Boris FX. “Boris FX has never been a single-host plugin company, and this acquisition strengthens that commitment. We will continue supporting every major platform and host application as we always have, while our combined engineering teams accelerate innovation by bringing shared AI technology across our entire product line.”
The product development teams and engineers behind Vegas Pro, Sound Forge, and Acid Pro, based in Madison, Wisconsin, and Germany, will remain with the organization.
“In my nearly 30 years of involvement in the Vegas Pro effort, I’ve never been more excited about the future of the software than I am right now,” remarks Gary Rebholz, former Vegas Chief Product Officer and current consultant for Boris FX. “The entire team is strong, fully engaged, and committed to taking Vegas Pro, Sound Forge, and Acid Pro into the future. We’re extremely happy with our new home at Boris FX and look forward to working with experts throughout the company to continue bringing loyal customers and new users the best editing and creation software.”
Sound Forge and Acid Pro complement Boris FX existing audio solutions, including Sequoia and Samplitude. Each product brings unique capabilities for music creators, and the company is looking forward to growing them under the Boris FX brand.
