Aputure announces NOVA 9° 2×1 and NOVA II 1×1 panels

Aputure announces NOVA 9° 2x1 and NOVA II 1x1 panelsWith the NOVA 9° 2×1 3-Light Kit, NOVA 9° 2×1, and NOVA II 1×1, all shipping next month, Aputure introduces new panel lights for general use and highly specialized problem solving.

The NOVA 9° 2×1 is a powerful hyper narrow beam panel ideal for a concentrated light over a long distance. The NOVA 9° 2×1 is also available as an individual hyper narrow beam panel and uses the same accessories as the NOVA II 2×1. At 5 meters, the NOVA 9° 2×1 is twice as bright as a 5,000W tungsten fresnel at full spot (28,090 lux vs 14,920 lux).

The NOVA 9° 2×1 3-Light Kit is a hyper narrow beam panel array utilizing three NOVA 9° 2×1 panels in a single yoke and is designed to throw bright, directional, tunable white light over great distances with pleasing shadow quality to replicate natural sunlight. With a shallow footprint and output greater than a 12,000W tungsten lamp at full spot at 10 meters (21,070 lux vs 17,400 lux), the NOVA 9° 2×1 3-Light Kit is perfect for use with reflectors, through windows, or wherever beams of sunlight are needed. The NOVA 2×1 3-Light Yoke can also be used with the NOVA II 2×1 lights.

A new Extended BLAIR light engine offers an expanded CCT range of 1,800-20,000K, with full ASC MITC range +/- Green adjustment. The Indigo emitters in the Extended BLAIR engine enhance the colors of naturally fluorescing materials, just like sunlight, and the Extended Red emitters enrich skin tones.

The NOVA II 1×1 is a portable panel more powerful than most 2×1 units when used both direct and diffused. Aputure adds that “the NOVA II 1×1 is the latest addition to the NOVA II family, and brings the breakthrough color range and light fidelity of the BLAIR-CG light engine to the popular 1×1 panel format.”

The fixture outputs tunable white from 1,800-20,000K CCT and tunable color over more than 90% of the Rec.2020 spectrum, with class-leading brightness both when used direct or diffused. The specially tuned BLAIR-CG light engine in the NOVA II 1×1 features multiple blue and multiple red emitters, including Extended Red for better color rendering and skin tones. Thanks to a unique “focus-then-blend” optical design, NOVA II 1×1 delivers a direct 35° beam, which remains bright when diffused, providing increased versatility with no visible color fringing on subjects.

All NOVA II and NOVA 9° fixtures share an advanced structural design that allows these panels to achieve three goals normally at odds: low noise, low weight, and IP65 weather protection.

“With the new NOVAs, Aputure has reinvented the panel light,” explained Mitch Gross, Aputure’s Global Director of Marketing. “Last year, we introduced the NOVA II 2×1, the most powerful 2×1 panel with the greatest range of color, and the ability to be powerful in both narrow and wide beams. Now the NOVA II 1×1 offers the same color performance in a more portable form factor with more output than most 2×1 panels. And the NOVA 9° 2×1 is a completely new concept, with a hyper narrow beam powerful enough to replicate direct sunlight over long throws. Stack three of them in our new 3-Light yoke, and you can even use it outside in daylight, all while running off a single household circuit.”

The NOVA 9° 2×1 and NOVA II 1×1 launch alongside new additions to the NOVA accessories ecosystem. The 1×1 versions of the NOVA accessories match their 2×1 counterparts, and share features like the front loading QuickClip system for easy attachment and stacking. The NOVA 9° 2×1 is compatible with all of the accessories already available for the NOVA II 2×1. The Softbox and Fabric Control Grid were designed and manufactured in collaboration with DoPchoice.

Key features of the new solutions from Aputure:

* The NOVA 2×1 3-Light Yoke Kit supplies yoke and cables for mounting three NOVA II 2×1 or NOVA 9° 2×1 panels in an array for use as a single, powerful light source.

* The NOVA 1×1 Softbox is a QuickClip diffusion modifier designed to set up in seconds.

* The NOVA 1×1 Dome Diffuser is a QuickClip omnidirectional modifier whose design produces a more diffuse light than the flat diffuser included with the NOVA II 2×1. The Dome Diffuser is available with either heavy or light frost.

* The NOVA 1×1 Fabric Control Grid is a QuickClip light control modifier that slips onto the front of the NOVA II 1×1 to reduce off-axis spill from the fixture.

* The NOVA 1×1 Barn Doors is a QuickClip light shaping modifier for the NOVA II 1×1.

* The NOVA 1×1 Rolling Hard Case is a protective case designed to hold the NOVA II 1×1 along with included accessories.
