Zoom PodTrak P4next announced with proper 48 kHz sampling frequency and 24-bit depth! 1

I am ecstatic to inform you that five years after our appeal to Zoom to correct the lack of 48 kHz in the original PodTrak P4 multitrack mixer/recorder, the company has just announced the new model called the PodTrak P4next for about US$180. Among the new and improved specs are the sampling rate corrected to 48 kHz (versus the prior non-standard for video 44.1 kHz) and the depth bit changed to 24-bit (versus the prior 16-bit). I indeed plan to test and review the new PodTrak P4next model, which retains its up to 70 dB gain, 4-track mixer, mix-minus for remote guests, multitrack recording, internal playback of pre-recorded audio carts, multitrack USB-C interface and four headphone outputs with individual volume controls, while adding features. The new features include realtime AI noise reduction, tone shaping, and built-in voice dynamic compression. The remote guests can be connected via 3.5 mm TRRS, USB or bluetooth using an optional module. I plan to test most of those features in my upcoming review.

Like the original version, the new PodTrak P4next.runs either on AA batteries or continuously via USB power. According to Zoom, the running time for the PodTrak P4next on AA batteries varies by battery type: approximately 8.5 hours with lithium batteries, 4 to 4.5 hours with NiMH batteries and around 3 to 4 hours with alkaline batteries. These times are estimates for continuous operation and will be shorter when using phantom power or other features.

Standby for my upcoming review.
