Zacuto and their resellers have dropped the price on pre-orders for the Gratical HD EVF. Pre-orders for this new electronic viewfinder were previously listed at $3600, and as of today listed at $2900. This price drop is retroactively available to anyone who has already pre-ordered, they will simply need to contact their reseller to confirm the new price.
Zacuto is currently working towards a release of the unit this month, though I understand they are still working on firmware and fine-tuning the units. They initially released a batch of 1000 units for pre-order, and I believe less than half of those are still available. Zacuto has extended this special pre-order pricing through the end of January. Starting in February, the retail price will be $3800 USD, so there's a short window to snag this new pricing.
I'm personally looking forward to getting my hands on one of these EVF units for testing. Lately I've been investing in lenses, monitors, and support gear (instead of cameras), so this type of tool is at the top of my list for purchase consideration in 2015. Early reports are looking good, so I'm anxious to see how it performs on-set.
