In this weeks show, we look at news & views from the week ending Nov 10th, 2013. Kevin talks about an article he wrote about upgrading to Mavericks & we talk to Simon Jones, Communications Manager at FXHOME, about HitFilm 2 Ultimate.
If you’re not familiar with FXHOME, they were founded by Joshua Davies in 2001 and have taken their wide focus on visual effects and photography, and zeroed their sites in on two of, now, their flagship apps, and that is HitFilm 2 for visual effects, and Photokey for Adobe’s Photoshop. In the interview, Simon talks about the history of the company, the “creation” of HitFilm from three other FXHOME products, about kickstarting the Mac version, and not only having it greenlit, but getting almost double what they asked for.
Hitfilm 2 Ultimate is an impressive newcomer (well, not really THAT new) to the visual effects game, and the tools they offer that are standard in HitFilm, are found as third party plug-ins in their competitors compositing applications.
