The EditShare booth is always a good stop at NAB as you can cover both storage and its many flavors as well as editing in stop. While EditShare offers many different storage options I wanted to take a look at the Field units that we reviewed on PVC last year (in the field and in the edit). And, of course, there’s that little thing called Lightworks and that beta that is supposedly finally coming to the Mac.
Both the Field2 and Field Ultra are small, multi-user SANs. They are rather compact, fast, customizable and a real workhorse when it comes to serving up media day in, day out. The Field Ultra is EditShare’s new addition to this small SAN line and it looks like it might be an even better option for the small shop when you don’t really need lots of connections.
And then there’s Lightworks. We hear this venerable NLE was coming to the Mac many NABs ago as part of its modern-day rebirth and we finally have a release date.

I chatted with Matt the LightWorks product manager about LightWorks and asked that question of when we’ll see that Mac beta. They better get their servers ready. He also chats up some of the new features that happen with version 11.5. He actually demos the Mac version and some of its multicam features. I can’t wait to try this out!
