PVC at NAB 2014 – CoreMelt and Imagineer Systems

Imagineer Systems is always part of the plug-in pavilion but didn’t have anything new to show this year, rather taking the time to have a small technology preview. But they did have Roger Bolton of CoreMelt in their booth again and Roger was demoing TrackX, the phenomenal tracking tool for Final Cut Pro X that uses mocha planar tracking technology.

We talked to Roger at the same booth last year as he had just introduced SliceX (and we reviewed SliceX here as well). TrackX adds onto the SliceX base with tools designed more for tracking and attaching objects and text rather than masking. And at $99 it’s a bargain.

I also wanted to ask Roger about the possibility of bringing this technology to Adobe Premiere Pro CC. While we all know now that masking and tracking will be built into the next update to PPro (read about that here) I think it’s fair to say that it won’t be as good as what mocha planar tracking technology will be able to do.

But don’t skip the quick talk of mocha Pro 4 and it’s going to have some new Adobe Premiere Pro CC integration. And we talk HitFilm and how they’ve licensed Imagineer technology as well.
