The new Panasonic cameras on display at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City include the AG-DVX200PJ 4K handheld camcorder, the AW-UE70 4K PTZ the AK-UC3000 4K studio camera and the AJ-PX380 P2 AVC-ULTRA shoulder-mount.

In addition, Panasonic will highlight the VariCam 35 4K Super 35mm camera/recorder, AJ-PX270 P2 AVC-ULTRA handheld camcorder; the AW-HE40 and AW-HE130 HD PTZs, and the AW-HEA10 wide-angle PTZ camera remote control The AV-HS6000 2ME production switcher (with 32 HD-SDI inputs plus two DVI-D inputs) will also be showcased.

On Thursday, November 12, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in CCW’s Session Theater, Emmy-award-winning producer Barry Green will give a presentation on the DVX200PJ, the world’s first 4/3” large-format 4K handheld camcorder, an ultra-mobile acquisition tool for shooting 4K, UHD and HD. 

The AG-DVX200PJ 4K 4/3” Large-Format 4K Handheld Camcorder is the first in a new generation of large sensor, multi-format professional camcorders capable of capturing 4K/UHD, HD and SD, including cinematic DCI 4K 4096×2160. The camcorder is optimized for 4K/HD production, with stunning bokeh effects and a V-Log L curve (measured at 12 stops) emulating the natural grey-scale rendition of the VariCam 35.

The DVX200PJ, incorporates a newly-developed 4/3” large-format MOS sensor with high sensitivity of F11, and offers variable frame rate recording from 2fps to 120fps in 1080p mode, enhancing the camcorder’s utility in sports and VFX production. The handheld 4K camcorder offers a newly-designed Leica Dicomar 4K F2.8~F4.5 zoom lens) with shallow depth-of-field. The DVX200PJ is available with a suggested list price of $4,695.

Another camera on show at this event is the AW-UE70 PTZ with 4K output, streaming and in-camera recording. The UE70 is the professional video industry’s first integrated 4K pan/tilt/zoom camera, delivering 3840 x 2160 resolution images at 29.97p/25p via HDMI, and also capable of 4K IP streaming and in-camera 4K recording. The UE70 also offers genlock, Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S), and remote switchable ND filters. The UE70, with 3G-SDI as well as HDMI video outputs, incorporates a ½.3”-type MOS sensor and advanced processing. The camera boasts direct-from-camera audio/video streaming up to 2160/30p. The UE70 is available with a suggested list price of $5,850.

Targeted at studios and productions requiring high-end functionality at an affordable price, the AK-UC3000 4K camera system outputs an UHD signal (3840 x 2160 at 59.94p, 50p, 29.97p, 29.97PsF, 25p, 25PsF, 23.98p, 23.98PsF), while also delivering superb picture quality in HD. The camera’s B4 mount accommodates the gamut of existing 2/3-inch lenses to maximize customers’ return on their investment in existing lenses, and allows a wider and more economical choice of glass for sports, concerts and similar applications. 

Another star of the CCW event in New York is the PX380 1/3-inch 2.2M 3MOS AVC-ULTRA shoulder-mount camcorder, which offers powerful IT/wireless connectivity capabilities and dual codec recording for simultaneous high resolution and proxy image capture.

The PX380’s multi-codec AVC-ULTRA affords master-quality and/or low-bit-rate 10-bit, 4:2:2 recording in full raster HD to meet a variety of user needs from mastering to transmission. The camcorder also records in AVC-LongG to provide on-air content direct from the shooting location and for workflows using content transferred over the internet. Built-in network functions support wired LAN, wireless LAN and 4G/LTE connections, enabling on-site preview, streaming and uploading data to a server quickly and easily at low cost. The camcorder is available in two versions: the AJ-PX380GF including camera body plus color viewfinder and lens for a suggested list price of $11,995; and the AJ-PX380G-camera-body only-for a suggested list price of $8,395.
