Just last week I posted a video tutorial introducing Mocha AE, the tracking app that has been bundled with After Effects since 2009. It’s still pretty new, and you can check it out here.
But after posting it online, I was browsing the After Effects forum on Reddit and I saw a post from someone who needed help removing objects from a video. Wow, I thought. That’s a perfect example of something that Mocha is good for. What timing!
Although I shared the link to my new tutorial, as well as an earlier one on reverse stabilisation, it occurred to me that rather than list steps on Reddit, it might be easier to just record myself doing it. Thankfully, the reddit user was happy for me to share their footage, and so here we are. This is a mostly-live recording of me looking at the clip and working out how to solve their problem, using Mocha. I guess this is like a sequel to last weeks video!
This is the first time I’ve tried doing something like this, and it was fun to work through a problem while recording everything. If you’ve found it useful, let me know and I might be able to do more videos like this in the future.
