CODEX launches new CFexpress media range for professional creators

CODEX launches new CFexpress media range for professional creatorsWith the launch of the new Cfexpress media range CODEX extends its trusted filmmaking heritage to professional creators.

With the launch of the new CFexpress media range, CODEX is extending more than two decades of professional capture media, storage and workflow technologies into the wider filmmaking and photography market.

Trusted on some of the world’s most demanding film and television productions, such as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Project Hail Mary, Wicked: For Good, and House of the Dragon, CODEX has built its reputation on developing capture media and workflow technologies where reliability is essential. The new CFexpress portfolio brings that same engineering philosophy to professional filmmakers, photographers, and hybrid creators.

Available in both Type A and Type B to support a wide range of professional camera systems, including Canon, Sony, Blackmagic and RED, and in Excel and Elite performance tiers for different workflow demands, the new range has been designed for creators who need dependable, sustained performance, rapid offloads and complete confidence in their media. The range is accompanied by a new CODEX CFexpress Type B Reader, providing high-speed USB4 transfers of up to 5000MB/s and compatibility with Type B cards (and Type A cards via an adapter).

Marc Dando, Chief Design Officer at CODEX, explains: “We’ve always believed that the technology should support the creative process. We’ve spent more than twenty years working with filmmakers and building products that solve their problems. It felt like a natural step to bring that experience to a range of CFexpress media. It’s about giving creators media they know they can trust.”

That commitment to reliability is already familiar to long-time CODEX partner ARRI Rental. “The introduction of CFexpress media is a natural progression for CODEX. They have always delivered for our ARRI camera systems, and it will add that additional comfort to our customers,” said Andrew Prior, Head of Technology and Development, ARRI Rental.

CODEX has always focused on what really matters in real-world production: consistent, sustained write performance, effective thermal management, and data integrity. Every card incorporates CODEX technologies, including FastLane, HeatControl, and ByteGuard, alongside VPG (Video Performance Guarantee) certified options for the most demanding 8K and 12K workflows. Together with the new CFexpress Type B Reader, the range supports a fast, dependable workflow from capture through to offload.

“I’ve trusted CODEX technology in some of the most demanding environments imaginable, including filming aboard the International Space Station,” explains James Neihouse ASC,
“When you’re capturing moments that can never be recreated, absolute confidence in your recording media isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. I’m pleased to see CODEX bring that same commitment to performance to its new CFexpress media.”
