Blackmagic Design Releases DaVinci Resolve 11.2

Blackmagic Design Releases DaVinci Resolve 11.2 4

Blackmagic Design releases DaVinci Resolve 11.2 adding new codecs, cinema DNG tone improvements, and edit page improvements that move the color correction software closer to an NLE that can handle more than simple edits.

If you are an Avid editor then this is the DaVinci Resolve update that you’ve been waiting to be released.  DaVinci Resolve 11.2 update makes working with Avid easier because you can move both high resolution media and sequences back and forth between Avid and Resolve. The new Avid DNxHR codec, found in Avid and Resolve, lets customers work natively and share the same high resolution files, and improved AAF lets editors and colorists round trip projects with Media Composer 8.3 more accurately.

For raw shooters, Resolve 11.2 adds improved Cinema DNG RAW processing with new soft clipping features.  Which should help those working with Blackmagic Camera’s raw files look even better than before. Now you can take advantage of new colorspace enhancements when decoding raw files for a more realistic Rec. 709 and P3 colorspace images. The New soft clip options are also available when converting high dynamic range CinemaDNG raw images into Rec. 709 colorspace. That means you will get better images when moving to reduced color spaces, like computer monitors, because colors are transformed using new algorithms designed to minimize clipping and provide amazing results.

Grant Petty: “We are extremely excited to release this update for DaVinci Resolve and Resolve Lite. The new CinemaDNG color algorithms are an incredible improvement in image processing technology. This new processing turns wide dynamic range RAW images into HD Rec. 709 in a way that retains more color detail and subtlety, making pictures look more natural and lifelike than ever before, especially when working with digital film cameras from Blackmagic Design! We think it’s an amazing innovation that extends DaVinci Resolve’s incredible image quality and helps customers get even more from their Blackmagic cameras simply by opening up their existing RAW files in this new DaVinci Resolve 11.2!”
