The inaugural Post Atlanta Conference runs September 26–27, 2026, at the Plaza Theatre on Ponce. Two days, 50+ post professionals, and 20+ panels. It’s the kind of event Atlanta has needed for a while, and the speaker lineup suggests the organizers aren’t treating it like a small local meetup.
Atlanta has been a production powerhouse for years. The film and TV work that flows through Georgia is well documented, and the state’s tax incentives have made it one of the busiest markets in the country. The post-production side of that story, the editors, colorists, VFX artists, and sound designers who can finish that work, hasn’t had a dedicated gathering of its own until now with the Post Atlanta Conference.
Who’s Speaking
A few names worth knowing:
Drew Sawyer, founder of Moonshine Post, is one of the featured speakers. Sawyer built Atlanta’s full-service post house after a producing career that includes credits at Netflix, AMC, Warner Bros., and IFC. He made a deliberate bet on Atlanta as a place where serious post work gets done.
Deanna Nowell, A.C.E. brings Marvel-level credits to the stage. She’s edited *Ironheart* for Marvel/Disney+, *Grand Crew* for NBC, and *Beauty in Black* for Netflix. That’s a pretty good cross-section of the major streaming and network landscape right there.
Kristina Kromer rounds out the featured speakers, a film, television, and advertising editor who came up through the journeyman process and has worked with Netflix, AMC, Warner Bros., and Paramount. Her background in advertising alongside long-form work is notable; those are two very different cutting rooms.
And that’s just the announced headliners. With 50+ speakers total across 20+ panels, there’s clearly a lot more programming that hasn’t been fully surfaced yet. Keep an eye on the conference website for details.
What to Expect
The conference covers the full post-production spectrum. Editors, colorists, VFX artists, sound designers, post supervisors, freelancers, and students are all explicitly named as the target audience – which means this isn’t pitched at any one corner of the post world.
The format includes panels, workshops, and networking sessions. It’s designed to be practical, not just inspirational. Workshops especially tend to be where the useful-on-Monday information lives at events like this.
Timing and Context
The conference is running at an interesting moment. Georgia’s tax incentives have historically pushed production into the state, but post work often traveled elsewhere to finish. That’s starting to change, and the Post Atlanta Conference is positioning itself squarely in that shift – built to connect Atlanta’s growing post talent base with the work coming through and to keep more of the finishing pipeline in the South.

I was hoping to go myself but I won’t be able to head south for the event. This reminds me of the one-and-down Southeast Creative Summit, in Atlanta back in 2013. It was a great event that hoped to establish a regular event in the south, but it wasn’t meant to be.
