THE FOUNDRY’S NUKE AND FURNACE CHOSEN BY C.O.R.E. DIGITAL PICTURES FOR ADVANCED VFX PIPELINE

Leading visual effects software developer The Foundry (www.thefoundry.co.uk) today announced that C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures, the award-winning Toronto-based digital visual effects and animation company, has chosen to upgrade its entire VFX pipeline with Nuke and Furnace. The implementation will give all of C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures’ digital artists access to a consistent set of compositing and image-processing tools, and represents one of the industry’s most advanced VFX pipelines.

The Foundry’s tools will replace the current systems of C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures’ Visual Effects, Toons and Feature Animation divisions, to create a fully integrated and flexible pipeline that will take its multi-disciplinary CG production to new levels.

C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures is a multi-award winning VFX, cartoon and feature animation studio, which has produced cutting-edge effects and animation on films such as X-Men, Blade II and Disney’s The Wild. Television projects include Showtimes’ The Tudors and animation series Franny’s Feet, Angela Anaconda and Chops Socky Chooks.

“To compete successfully in today’s global CG production industry, you must be able to deliver results with ever-greater speed and efficiency without compromising quality,” said Jordan Thistlewood of C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures. “Our multi-disciplinary business model requires us to be much more efficient than our competitors who only handle one market segment. The Foundry’s cutting edge tools will form a critical part of our next wave of efficiencies moving forward”.

Bill Collis, CEO of The Foundry, commented, “C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures’ investment reassures us that we are heading in the right direction, by delivering improvements that empower artists and save post production facilities time and money. Their artists will enjoy new levels of collaborative workflow, and we look forward to seeing the results.”
