The Editblog is a top 50 blog for Moviemakers according to MovieMaker 1

I was happy to see that MovieMaker magazine has named the Editblog as one of the 50 Best Blog for MovieMakers! This was exciting for me as I’ve been reading the magazine for years and think they have very good taste ;-). To welcome any new readers that might come via MovieMaker we’re going to dig back through our nearly 5 years of articles, tutorials, tips, rants, videos, links and such and repost some long lost pieces.

UPDATE: MovieMaker now has a special 50 Best Blogs link for a one year subscription for only $6. That’s $1 per issue and a third of the regular subscription rate of $18.

One of the great things about blogs is the normal way of posting info keeps the most current stuff at the top of the page. But that’s one shortcoming of them as well as older content gets buried and will only be found by new readers as they are directed there from a Google search or another direct link. While there is some archive browsing that goes on there’s not a lot. As a way to say welcome to any new readers that come to the Editblog on PVC via the MovieMaker 50 Best Blogs for Moviemakers article we are going to dig back through nearly 5 years of posts and repost some of our favorites. A little history lesson: The Editblog began as an extension of my online edit reel back in the fall of 2005. It was a way to talk about the art, science and technical side of editing and post production. In talking about various topics I hoped to generate some conversation and understand post better myself in the end. In January of 2009 I moved it over the Pro Video Coalition. While I do still post on the original Editblog site those posts are mainly videos, links and more pop culture / fun stuff. The serious editing stuff goes here.

One comment I heard when I moved the Editblog to PVC was that the sheer volume of information the site holds makes it a bit confusing to navigate. I set up this post to help explain PVC to a new user. Everything has an RSS feed so that helps in bringing content back to the reader. So please subscribe to the RSS feed on the front page of the Editblog on PVC to be notified of new posts. Keep your RSS feeds open during February for some Editblog posts of years past. And thanks for reading.

I also want to send out a congrats to fellow PVCers who are on the MovieMaker list as well: FreshDV (PVC link) and HD for Indies (PVC link).
