ProVideo Coalition was designed to bring together the industry’s best writers, bloggers and video gurus under one url. We’ve taken that concept to a different place as the site features a rich archive of reviews, insights, advice and plenty more from working professionals who have a different and incredibly powerful perspective. You’ve undoubtedly noticed a lot of things have been changed with PVC, but that’s one thing that’s going to remain the same.
With this relaunch, we’ve made a concerted effort to install improvements based on the feedback we’ve gotten from our audience via surveys, social media, email and even in person. Readers identified that they wanted more and easier ways to find relevant content that they know is housed on PVC, and also wanted to see a streamlined version of the site. So those are changes you should be able to notice immediately.
Another new feature of the site is the Events page, where you’ll be able to see what sort of events are coming up throughout media & entertainment. Whether it’s the next meeting of an After Effects User Group, details about NAB Show or something like the SuperMeet, we want to create a resource that professionals across the industry and across the world can access and add to which will allow everyone to more easily connect with one another.
We’ve also redone the look and frequency of our newsletter to make it a much more valuable resource to the community. In April of last year we split up our newsletter into different production segments, and while this was sound in theory, it didn’t seem to resonate with everyone in the way that we had hoped, and made our schedule much more complicated. So we’ve streamlined it to run once a week with different areas that highlight a particular topic or segment. We’re also going to be experimenting with monthly “Top 10” editions and some “From the Editor” pieces. You can sign up for our newsletter here.
I’m also excited about some of the new topics within PVC that will focus on different and specific elements of media & entertainment. You’ll notice that the content in our Photography and Interactive channels contain archived content from other Coalitions, but moving forward they will be focused on content that specifically pertains to media & entertainment. You can see the first of these sorts of pieces on the Workflow, Archive & Storage page with a series about Exploring Storage, Archive and Workflow in M&E, Parts I and II.
There’s a lot going on with the site itself, but PVC has and will continue to expand our reach beyond our online publication. Many of you probably know that Kanen Flowers has changed his popular “That Post Show” to “That Studio Show”, and our own Scott Simmons is a big part of that rebrand. He’s serving as host and co-host for many current and upcoming “That Studio Show” episodes, some of which Kanen has dubbed “That PVC Show”.
We’re also going to be a part of one of the more exciting aspects of NAB Show in a big way. In addition to our usual coverage, we’re going to be taking a couple slots during the Teradek Live Show at the Teradek booth, where they’ll be broadcasting live for almost the entirety of the event. We’re really excited to be part of the amazing talent they’re always able to assemble for their live broadcasts. Stay tuned for more details around what to expect from us at NAB this year.
As with any change though, there will be some growing pains, and I have no doubt there are some bugs and features you want to tell us about.
