The end of shaky videos 1

There is no doubt that many of the videos seen online today are created with small cameras, from action cams to smartphones. Packed with high resolution and advanced features, many of these cameras allow users to tell stories in video. The only problem is that most of those videos are shaky. That’s where solidLUUV comes in.

According to YouTube, over 300 hours of shaky-video footage is uploaded every minute, a serious sign that something needs to be done to help users of smartphones, action cams, GoPro or any other small cameras. A smooth, shake-free footage transforms the way viewers accept and interact with a video and solidLUUV is that catalyst. solidLUUV is the world‘s first all-in-one stabilizer and is going to revolutionize the way you film, say the creators on their Kickstarter page.

With over 400 backers, over €70,000 pledged of a €100,000 goal (+/- $111,000) and 38 days to go, the project will only be funded if at least €100,000 is pledged by

Behind the solidLUUV is a German company, LUUV Forward GmbH, from Berlin. According to the founders, “LUUV started 2012 when we were unhappy with the shaky videos we were getting on a snowboarding trip. We wanted a stabilizer that not only looked good and was easy to use, but functioned better than anything that was currently on the market. It needed to accommodate any user, with any camera, and deliver flawless results… and so solidLUUV was born.”

The solidLUUV allows users to capture all their moments, shake-free. From skating and snowboarding adventures with an action camera, recording concerts with a smartphone via periscope, to a holiday adventure with a compact camera, shake- free footage is now simple and affordable.

In the past, camera stabilizers have been bulky, expensive, difficult to set up and were only used by professional videographers. solidLUUV is the world‘s first all-in-one stabilizer that can be used by everyone to create high-quality, steady footage quickly and easily, and without any technical knowledge. Thanks to the modular setup of solidLUUV, it functions with any action camera, smartphone or compact camera.

The solidLUUV project is only the beginning. In fact, an electronic gimbal can also be attached to solidLUUV resulting in ultraLUUV – the world‘s first 2×3-axis stabilizer. This pairing combines all the advantages of mechanical and electronic stabilization – next level stabilization! You can also detach the electronic module from solidLUUV and attach it to your helmet, bike handle or stick.

Crucial to the versatility of solidLUUV is the aerodynamic and robust design. solidLUUV can be used with one hand and is light-weight and convenient for filming a variety of different sports and activities. The innovative features of the accessory help shift the focus to what matters most – having fun.

Using the solidLUUV allows to reduce the number of shaky videos shared around the world. It’s like having Hollywood style stability in your pocket, suggests the team behind the project.

The patented mechanism inside solidLUUV enables to quickly and easily adjust the weights to counterbalance the camera’s centre of gravity, through flexible weight setups for different cameras. LUUV also plans to offer preset weight setups so the user can simply insert another weight set and go, saving even more time. By using the rotatable adjustment ring you can easily give solidLUUV the last tweak without changing the weight setup.

Built to be a one-handed camera stabilizer, the solidLUUV can also be turned upside down, to discover exciting new perspectives. The accessory is operated with your thumb and index finger and allows to maintain full control of motion with every movement. The grip’s unique structure ensures that the natural vibrations from your hand are not transmitted to solidLUUV and your camera. The custom-made Xiros bearing produced by LUUV Forward’s partner IGUS, world leader in polymer ball bearings, is the heart of solidLUUV. It separates body movement from the camera and ensures maximum precision when filming.

Based on a drop-shaped design, the solidLUUV accessory not only facilitates most of its features, but is also much less susceptible to wind than conventional stabilizers. Its robust shell makes solidLUUV the perfect companion for outdoor adventures and filming while in motion.

This aerodynamic design is part of the reason why solidLUUV has recently won the ISPO Award for Product of The Year 2015/2016. ISPO is the world’s biggest sports fair and selected the product in the category of Action Sports. solidLUUVs functional design was also recognized and awarded by the jury of one of the most prestigious design awards, the Red Dot.

Available on Kickstarter from September 22, solidLUUV appears there with an exclusive price of €99. Add the electronic stabilization module and create ultraLUUV, for the exclusive price of €199. For more information visit the campaign page on Kickstarter.
