The new Century 5-Filter Kit With 4″ Filter Holder combines an easy-to-use filter holder and 5 essential Century 4″x4″ filters that meet the needs of today’s professional cinematography.
Manufactured in cooperation with Lee Filters, the 4″ Filter Holder is a simple, economical way to mount square filters on a round camera lens without the need for a bulky mattebox system. The holder attaches to the lens via an interchangeable adapter ring. Available in most popular sizes, the adapter ring screws smoothly onto the threads at the lens front. Once the ring is on board the camera lens, the holder clips securely into place using a smooth, quick-release spring-loaded mechanism. What’s more, when fitted to the adapter ring, it can be rotated to any angle. Filters slide neatly into twin slots on the top and bottom of the system. The Filter Holder can retain 1 to 2 filters and is compatible with DV and film cameras.
The Kit provides 5 essential filters housed in a lightweight, multicompartment padded case with a handy belt loop. Combining superior grade materials, high-end performance, and affordability, these 4″x4″ filters have been carefully designed and selected especially to help balance exposure, control depth of field, and compensate for limited dynamic range.
The first in this practical collection is the Neutral Density .6 Solid filter, which reduces transmission by 75%, controlling exposure or depth of field without affecting color or contrast. Century’s ND .6 Soft Edge Grad employs a surface that’s 50% clear and 50% with a neutral density of 0.6 (2 stops), to balance exposure within a scene. The Century Polarizer reduces glare and unwanted reflections, saturates colors, deepens blue skies, improves contrast, and penetrates haze. For subtle enhancement of a scene, the Black Frost 1/2 Diffusion filter can be used to flare highlights and tone down contrast, without degrading image quality or black saturation. The Century Skintone Enhancer adds warmth to skin tones and accentuates foliage and architecture while reducing excessive blue in outdoor open shade.
In addition to the Century 5-Filter Kit, a new Schneider Landscape Control Kit with a 4×5.65 ND .6 (2 stop) vertical soft edge grad filter is also available. Both packages include the 4″ Filter Holder and a 77mm adapter ring in a handy carrying case. Other size adapter rings are available for purchase or the holder can be used with conventional step rings to accommodate other lens filter diameters. The Filter Holder and 77mm adapter ring can also be purchased separately for work with 4mm-thick glass filters.
