Cine Gear LA 2026 brought together some of the most exciting filmmaking technology we’ve seen this year, from major camera system launches to workflow innovations designed for the realities of modern production. After spending Friday and Saturday getting hands-on with new products and speaking directly with the teams behind them, the ProVideo Coalition editorial staff selected the products that stood out most for innovation, execution, and real-world value.
This year’s Best in Show Awards recognize the tools that we believe are genuinely pushing filmmaking forward—whether through breakthrough engineering, practical workflow improvements, or simply delivering outstanding performance in the field.
Grand Prize – Core SWX & Mondobytes PowerVault
Core SWX & Mondobytes earned our Grand Prize with the PowerVault, a product that directly addresses one of the industry’s most persistent challenges: scalable, reliable mobile power. Designed to support increasingly power-hungry production environments, the PowerVault offers a robust solution that feels purpose-built for modern sets. What makes it stand out is not simply capacity, but the flexibility and workflow potential it introduces for productions operating on location. It’s the kind of infrastructure-focused innovation that can quietly reshape how crews work.
Honorable Mention — LEE Filters 599 Nocturnal Blue Lighting Gel Filter
LEE Filters earned an honorable mention with the 599 Nocturnal Blue gel, a lighting tool that immediately stood out for its rich, cinematic character. In an era dominated by RGB fixtures and digital control, it was refreshing to see a traditional lighting modifier generate so much creative interest among cinematographers and gaffers. The gel delivers a distinctive blue tone that feels atmospheric without becoming overpowering, offering filmmakers another expressive option for shaping mood and texture. It’s a reminder that innovation in lighting is not always about electronics; sometimes it’s about color, taste, and craft.
Greatest Innovation Award — Glyph Atom EX80 SSD
The Glyph Atom EX80 SSD impressed us with a combination of speed, ruggedness, and intelligent workflow functionality aimed squarely at professional production environments. In addition to strong transfer performance, the drive’s integrated tracking capabilities add a meaningful layer of security and asset management for crews constantly moving gear between locations. It’s a thoughtful feature set that reflects an understanding of how valuable media and storage have become in modern productions. Rather than simply chasing specs, Glyph delivered a tool designed around the practical realities of filmmaking workflows.
Honorable Mention — AJA ColorBox
AJA’s ColorBox continues to prove itself as one of the most flexible and production-friendly color management tools available today. Its compact footprint, combined with deep color pipeline capabilities, makes it equally valuable in live production, on-set monitoring, and finishing workflows. At Cine Gear, ColorBox demonstrated how modern color workflows can become both more sophisticated and more accessible. It remains one of the smartest and most versatile utility products we encountered on the show floor.
Breakthrough Camera Award — FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55
FUJIFILM’s GFX ETERNA 55 was one of the most talked-about camera announcements at Cine Gear 2026, bringing the company’s large-format imaging expertise into a dedicated cinema platform. The camera combines the distinctive look and depth associated with the GFX ecosystem with a design language clearly aimed at professional filmmaking workflows. Paired with the new FUJINON GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR, the system immediately positioned itself as something unique within the digital cinema landscape. Rather than simply adapting a stills platform for motion use, FUJIFILM appears to be building a serious long-term cinema ecosystem—and ETERNA 55 is an exciting first step.
Optical Achievement Award (TIE) — Sigma AF Cine 28-105mm T3 FF
Sigma’s AF Cine 28-105mm T3 FF represents an important step forward for modern cine zoom design. Combining cinema-oriented mechanics with autofocus capability in a full-frame package, the lens reflects where many productions are headed: faster-moving, smaller crews without sacrificing cinematic image quality. The zoom range makes it remarkably versatile for documentary, commercial, and narrative production alike. Most importantly, Sigma has managed to create a tool that feels practical and forward-looking without compromising on optical character.
Optical Achievement Award (TIE) — Zeiss Panoptes 65
The ZEISS Panoptes 65 combines the scale and immersion of large-format cinematography with the distinctive character that cinematographers increasingly seek in modern lenses. Rather than chasing a perfectly clinical image. The Panoptes 65 delivers a unique visual signature while maintaining the precision, consistency, and reliability expected from ZEISS. It’s a lens that demonstrates how optical innovation isn’t just about technical performance; it’s also about creating new creative possibilities for storytelling.
Achievement in Lighting — Nanlux Matrix 2500C
The Nanlux Matrix 2500C stood out at Cine Gear as an ambitious and highly capable lighting system built for large-scale professional production. Delivering substantial output alongside advanced color control, the fixture demonstrates how far LED lighting technology has evolved in recent years. Beyond raw power, what impressed us most was the flexibility and control the Matrix platform offers crews working across narrative, commercial, and virtual production environments. It feels designed not just to compete at the high end of the market, but to help define it.
Production Audio Award — Deity PR-4
Deity continues to establish itself as one of the most interesting companies in production audio, and the PR-4 was a standout example of why. Designed with practical production workflows in mind, the recorder offers a combination of flexibility, usability, and modern connectivity that feels especially relevant for today’s crews. At Cine Gear 2026, the PR-4 demonstrated a strong understanding of where production sound is headed, particularly as smaller teams demand increasingly capable tools. It’s a product that balances innovation with practicality in a way that immediately resonated with us.
The hardest parts of these awards are always narrowing down our list, and especially finalizing the winners vs honorable mentions. All the products on this list are top-class, must-see filmmaking gear.
