PVC at NAB 2015: Talking monitors with EIZO and Flanders Scientific 1

On the last day of NAB 2015 I grabbed a cameraman and wandered around the south hall and grabbed a few interviews in the booths of some products and services I found interesting. Monitors were one category I wanted to check out so I made a stop at both EIZO and Flanders Scientific. Pardon the shaky cam as I think we got some good info.

EIZO

EIZO has been a name that’s been generating a lot of buzz lately. Their ColorEdge CG277 is a 27 inch display that runs around $2,500 and has proved a popular monitor in editing suites. I see it as a direct competitor to the HP Dreamcolor and I ask Kevin the EIZO rep about the Dreamcolor as competition.

We also take a look at the ColorEdge CG248–4K. That’s just what it sounds like, EIZO’s venture into the 4K display. The resolution of this monitor is UHD at 3840 × 2160. What the video for a price discussion as it hasn’t been set as of this writing.

Flanders Scientific

Flanders Scientific has recently released several new monitors including their first entry into a more affordable grading monitor. At $1995 the AM210 is part of the AM series which is a less feature rich line of displays that still have the FSI quality. FSI also introduced the high end DM250 which is a high end display that includes a huge feature set with a 3rd generation Color Fidelity Engine, dedicated 2nd screen outputs, WiFi, Display Port to SDI cross conversion, and zero-delay processing mode. This one won 2015 NAB Best of Show. See my conversion about the AM line below.
