DSLRcinema is holding their second bi-annual film contest entitled “One Shot One Kill”. Now, despite the name, this is not some violent or horror themed film contest. ‘One Shot’ refers to ‘One Take’ or at the very least the illusion of one take. Here’s all the details from DSLRcinema.

“We are excited to see your work and have a friendly competition as well. We will be giving away prizes to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd over-all winners and those films will be featured on our website as well. This film festival is international so it doesn’t matter where you are located. Official rules are outlined below.”

THEME
We have decided to make this contest’s theme “One Shot One Kill”. Inspired by the daring film makers who took on the task to create a film shot all in one take. There haven’t been many, but the few out there are amazing.
The requirement for this short film is just that, it must be shot in one take (or fake it well enough to make us believe it was one take). This means one fluid take with no visible cuts.

Please do not use any sound or imagery that is copyrighted in any way. You must own the rights to everything you use unless it is public domain or you have permission of the owner to use it.
Please Note: Don’t feel like the title of this theme should guide or limit your content. We are not necessarily asking for a violent film here it is just a creative name for the type of film and theme we are looking for. Be creative and give us something fresh!
LENGTH
Total running time of your film can not exceed 5 minutes. This includes all intros and end credits. You may make it shorter than 5 minutes but it can not exceed 5 minutes in length.
FILMING AND REGISTRATION
You may use footage and films that were previously used or submitted for other festivals and contests. It is NOT required that you use a DSLR to film your movie. DSLRcinema would like to expand to everyone in the film making community and not restrict the camera type. The “One Shot One Kill” film festival will run between August 15, 2011 and November 30, 2011.
For entering your film into the contest we are running things a little different this time. Follow the steps below to enter.
1. Subscribe to our Vimeo channel here: http://vimeo.com/channels/158520 then once your film has been shot, edited, and produced it will need to be uploaded to Vimeo . In the caption area of your Vimeo post you will be required to include the following information in the following format:
TITLE: “your film title”
FILM FESTIVAL THEME: “One Shot One Kill”
NOTES: “any other credits or notes you wish to add or that you must add to give credit to your cast and crew or materials used”
2. You will need to fill out our entry registration form here which must include a link to the film you entered. Your film will then get posted to our Vimeo channel. You may send us your finished film at any time during the festival (between August 15, 2011 and November 30, 2011). Limit of 2 films per entrant and winners will be announced by the end of December, 2011.
PLEASE NOTE: there is a $25 entry fee this time. This is to offset general costs incurred. This fee is not refundable unless we do not accept your film for some reason. If you decide to enter more than one film, you will only be charged one entry fee. Remember to include on your entry form the email you use to pay your entry fee: this is the only way we have of tracking payment with your film.
CONTENT RATING
Please do not use any explicit images in your short film. Any film showing such imagery will be disqualified.
JUDGING
We will judge your film on a 1-10 rating system in the following categories:
– Adherence to the theme.
– Cinematic image quality (framing, grading, pace).
– Story quality (how well the story is conveyed).
– Use of media (to include the sounds or soundtracks you decided to use).
EQUIPMENT
You may use any camera and any piece of equipment in making your film. We would love to know all the technical details of your shoot as well, so feel free to include them in the Vimeo description.
LEGAL
You must be 18 years of age or older. No exception. By entering your film into our “Speechless” Film Festival, You give us permission to post your final video publicly on our website(s) and to use imagery from it for ads or thumbnails. You also agree to adhere to any copyright laws and release us from any responsibility due to copyright infringement that may occur on your behalf. Adhering to copyright laws is the full responsibility of the contest entrants.
